Re: It's raining Dengue, Hallelujah!

and yes they all say Type A and their deadlines are 8/2/2010 ... those were four that my single core (HT) computer received.

...Some of my other systems have a due date of 7/30, but my cache wasn't set so high...not sure if that had anything to do with it or not.
Indeed, they are Type-A WUs and this 10-day delay is strange. Maybe Uplinger will have an explanation for them?

The cache size has no incidence on the time allowed to return them, unless something has changed recently, which would be surprising.

Re: It's raining Dengue, Hallelujah!

Answer is probably not. But I wonder why the estimate was so high...
Now that mine have run long enough, yes, it seems that they are estimated about twice heavier than they are. Maybe to be sure that the client starts them early enough for completing in time?

Note that the actual estimated duration that you see in the tasks list also depends on the current Duration Correction Factor of the client, which may be below or above reality depending on the other projects that you had run before.

Well...all 4 WU's "should" have more then enough time to finish, so I don't think they will be a problem. Currently, 4% took 2:12:03 and the other 3 haven't started yet due to other WU's finishing up.

Re: It's raining Dengue, Hallelujah!

I picked up 1 WU. But the 2 copies have different due dates. Is that normal?

Re: It's raining Dengue, Hallelujah!

Yes, the servers know about the speed of a device and will than when needed give extra time for these monsters [which is standard 8 days for the A type]. This will have been a slower device that usually returns tasks within 2 days, but will not be able to do that with this work unit based on the projected hours.

The Linux quad picked one up last night, a first DDDT2 A type ever, with 53 hours (DCF 1.10) so put it ahead of the queue and watch how many will really be needed,

Re: It's raining Dengue, Hallelujah!

Thanks for the reply. The WU is running on a slower desktop so that explains the extra days.

Hopefully it finishes OK. We've been hit with 1 second power outages several times today and that machine reboots each time it happens. Looks like I may need to invest in a UPS.

<ot> UPSs are really worth the money also because they [ours at least] also serve as spike protectors. Supposedly 70,000 joule these cheapos. You don't need the 1 hour version, just one that bridges short outages, particularly if you're in a reliable grid area. The APC we've had now for near 10 years recently had a new battery. Courier, 24 hours delivery from Milan, 32 Euro. It can tell the PC to orderly go into hibernation when it takes too long. </ot>

Re: It's raining Dengue, Hallelujah!

The tasks are going to run so long.

My question:Are they modyfied with less interations and so shorter run time?

Uplinger: "These work units have only 10 main loops instead of the 50. So they should run in about 1/5th the time as before."

As I rememrer correctly the 50 loop wu`s were running ~50 hours or so.
This shuold be ~11 I guess.
I haven`t any so I only guess.

Re: It's raining Dengue, Hallelujah!

Good point. What came out of the feeder will likely still hold the last FPOP averages that the work generator knows from past production. Mine had 2:46 CPU hours at last checkpoint on exactly 20 percent (see 2 checkpoints on the quick) i.e. not 53 hours projected, but about 13-15 hours.
