It used to be Railways, now its Tanks!

Many of you remember me with my model railways - now it's tanks.

At the moment it is a 1/16 T34-85, next will be a 1/16 King Tiger.

You can watch progress in a slideshow, I will post when I add more. I have just finished the hull and am now starting the turrest!

Those were Z scale at 1:220 ... tiny things.
The scale worked suitably for toilet paper rolls (bog rolls) as oil refinery tanks.

Now Scribe has moved on to world domination modeling. biggrin

Well, maybe not. A few days ago, a truck with a military vehicle on it near here got hit by a train.

UP train catches fire in Saginaw wreck

03/16/2010

Associated Press

A collision between a Union Pacific freight train and a military truck in Saginaw sparked a fire that damaged a locomotive and left an engineer slightly hurt.

UP spokeswoman Raquel Espinoza-Williams said Tuesday that crossing lights and gates were operating at the time of the accident Monday night. The cause of the wreck is sought.

Espinoza-Williams told The Associated Press that the engineer was treated for minor injuries and released from a hospital. She says the locomotive, one of three as part of the 100-car train hauling wheat, has significant damage.

She says the military truck was hauling a trailer with another military vehicle on it. The driver was not hurt. Espinoza-Williams had no further details on the military transport.

Saginaw is about 10 miles northwest of Fort Worth.

Nothing can beat a train. A long one probably has the energy of a small nuclear bomb in momentum. devilish

Cheers coffee

True, but if that Tiger Tank would have fired his 88mm gun at the engine, it would have gotten the engineer's attention, if it didn't knock the engine off of the track. tongue Back in Tiger days, they would fire at the steam engines to disable the train. It could also be done by machine gun from an air raid. The boiler usually blew up.

...a train can only go where the tracks take it......a tank can only go where its tracks take it.......a tank lays its own track!
