Re: Invalid Results sad

Can you explain to me how the host/client can be the cause of the invalid result?

I can accept that the host/client can cause errors, but they are mostly caused by the application. I don't care about these.

I only crunch for WCG and I don't care about the rest of Boinc.

Invalid results should get quorum credit and CPU.
The first possibility that comes to mind is bad hardware (RAM, flaky harddrive), including the possibility of working on an unstable overclocked system...

That said, I can't remember that I ever had an invalid result on WCG and so far, I have returned 28k of them...

Re: Invalid Results sad

Overclocking can introduce errors. So can failing hardware (power supply, capacitors, etc.). These days I am wondering about just how reliable GPU boards are going to turn out to be. After all, people do not even notice an occasional faulty pixel.

Re: Invalid Results sad

I am crunching WCG sub-projects on iMac mid 2011 (Intel i5, quad core), OS X 10.8.1, BOINC Manager 7.0.31 thus I assume there is quite low probability that HW is bad.

I have gotten few Invalid results from only from VINA applications SN2S, GFAM and DSFL (and to move on topic, I am glad I received full run time and half credits for them).

Now testing them on older laptop (Intel, dual core) running Win XP SP3.

Cheers and thanks WCG for giving us reward also for invalid results.
