FYI, when I reverted to 6.10.18 it went back to running the tasks with the earliest report deadline.

Since I installed the latest BOINC, 10.6.36, I'm getting lots of error messages "Suspending computation - CPU usage is too high" even though I didn't change any of my preferences. Also, it has started, but not completed, 14 different tasks. Any ideas? If you're running the tasks "high priority", you'll get this problem that a task runs for some time "high priority", for so another starts since it now has longer expected run-time than the 1st. and therefore has higher priority... A possible fix for this is already added and will appear in v6.10.37, but in the mean-time either live with it, or downgrade to v6.10.18 or an earlier version. BTW, to not get this effect in v6.10.36, two or maybe 3 different work-arounds would be: 1: Decrease cache-size, if you only cache 0.1 days, it's small chance of running "high priority", and you won't see the problem. 2: Increase the "Connect about every N days" to 8 days or something, and set "additional..." to zero. With so high setting the work will likely run "high priority", but also will run in EDF-mode so you won't start so many tasks. 3: Not tested, but it's possible setting "Switch between applications..." to 12 hours or something will also work. As long as you don't re-start BOINC or constantly suspend/resume for any reasons the same task will maybe run until finished, or until it's 12-hour-slot is finished... Still, I've not tested this particular setting, so dont' know if it does have any effects... edit - slow typer... ![]() "I make so many mistakes. But then just think of all the mistakes I don't make, although I might." [Edit 1 times, last edit by Ingleside at Mar 11, 2010 11:11:16 AM] |

FYI, when I reverted to 6.10.18 it went back to running the tasks with the earliest report deadline. Generally, all tasks in cache run in order of receipt for e.g. WCG (as a grid), but if running a larger cache and the mentioned added priorities (A/B types of DDDT-2 some having shorter deadlines), you might see task preempting. With HFCC you should not expect that though, they're 10 days, except repair jobs, which have 4, but only go to clients that return work quite quickly (within a few days). Ingleside., 6.10.37 won't be the last one I'm betting 10 quatloos on.

Thanks jorgenubu,
My first suggestion, unless you have a cooling problem, is to click on My Grid - Device Manager - (Selected Profile) and then select Maximum Output, then SAVE. This should speed up your statistics in the Results Status page. Lawrence |

Hi lawrence!
I´ve been reading your suggestion and after that i realise i have 10Mb of speed in my computer so i opened the BIONIC Manager and i saw that the default speed of send was 0 and the default speed of download was also 0 so i change that. ( Send speed from 0 to 200 Kb/s and download from 0 to 2000 kb/s) Do you think it´s proper...?, I think this home-solution can work. The other thing i changed, was the use of memory of the program while the computer is inactive, from 75 to 85, is this memory the RAM memory?. there is other think i´m interested to know, is that In the same options of the preferences, you can optimize the space of the hard disk that Bionic can use... my question is if that space is from the 10Gb of dedicated or it´s of the total memory of my computer. The deafult mode is 50%. thanks for all. |
