Those scanning a thread for items of interest as described in the Opening Post topic have an easy way to skip these parts.

More to the point, solely off topic posts cause those watching a thread via their forum profile , those who support or waiting for a support reply or simply threads of topical interest get an email, which they are not waiting for.
