[May 18] Local Atmosphere Heated Rapidly Before Japan Quake!
http://news.slashdot.org/story/11/05/18/17522...apidly-Before-Japan-Quake "A new paper presented at NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center in Maryland shows the rapid heating of the atmosphere directly above the fault days before the devastating earthquake hit. This is theorized to be the Lithosphere-Atmosphere-Ionosphere Coupling mechanism that occurs when large amounts of radon are released due to massive stress in the fault right before the quake. This can be detected with satellites analyzing infrared waves: 'The radioactivity from this gas ionizes the air on a large scale and this has a number of knock on effects. Since water molecules are attracted to ions in the air, ionization triggers the large scale condensation of water. But the process of condensation also releases heat and it is this that causes infrared emissions.' This is a shift from the Haiti earthquake where DEMETER was used to monitor ultra low frequencies. The presence of radon could also possibly explain erratic wildlife behavior prior to an earthquake." [May 26] Shortly following in the revisited news, the Italian scientist [geophysicist] who warned the authorities of an impending earthquake event in the L'Aquila region. He based his prediction on radon emissions and other observations and was send into the woods. Now 6 of his colleagues and an official are on trial: Seismologists Tried for Manslaughter for Not Predicting Earthquake http://www.livescience.com/14351-seismologist...ke-predictin-laquila.html --//-- |

Last years news resurrected, Japanese researcher had developed a new alloy of Nickel and Iron, much more strong, but most importantly, flexible and able to return to it's original form with intend to use in buildings to better withstand earthquakes. Resurrected, because now the form in which the metal was casted can be restored within a much wider temperature band of -196 to +240 Celsius.

From what I gather in your links, they really could be making much better use of their time. To procecute someone over such inmature science is so wrong. I don't hear much about Italian justice, but what I have heard is a little disturbing. Maybe it's just the stories that make the international news.

The Turkey earthquake
The effort to save any remaining earthquake victims continues around the clock in the eastern province of Van in Turkey after an earthquake reduced many of its buildings to rubble on Sunday, Oct. 23. A two-week old baby girl, her mother and grandmother were rescued in Ercis on Tuesday, but most teams are finding only bodies among the ruins. The 7.2 magnitude quake has reportedly killed at least 450 people as of Tuesday night and damaged more than 2,000 structures. Survivors live on the streets and in tents provided by the government. -- Lloyd Young (28 photos total).. Surely more victims by now .. |

Cleaning up after the Japanese tsunami
So how is Japan six months later? The answer is "Better but not exactly great Some 20,000 people are dead or missing. More than 800,000 homes were completely or partially destroyed. The disaster crippled businesses, roads and infrastructure. The Japanese Red Cross Society estimates that 400,000 people were displaced. Half a year later, there are physical signs of progress. Much of the debris has been cleared away or at least organized into big piles. In the port city of Kesennuma, many of the boats carried inland by the tsunami have been removed. Most evacuees have moved out of high school gyms and into temporary shelters or apartments. Last week the Kyodo News agency distributed an amazing group of combination photographs showing three scenes. The first scene is right after the earthquake and tsunami hit, then three months later and finally, how the scene looks now. (44 images) See Here |

If you happen to live in an earthquake prone region, the outlook for 2018 is not looking good... It seems statistics show for the past 117 years of data, that when earth is in rotational slowdown mode, milliseconds, the concurrences increase substantially, and stronger.
