Hello WCG.
Attention: uplinger Reference: Your [Feb 22, 2010 3:09:19 PM] post Sir: Please clarify the details regarding the WCG DDDT2 WU hierarchy as follows: For type-A: 1. 25 "groups" of type-A WUs. Is there a fixed or variable number of type-A WUs in 1 type-A "group"? 2. Do we need to wait for all type-A WUs of all 25 type-A groups or just the complete members of type-A WUs of any one type-A group to be returned from crunchers to-, and subsequently validated by-, WCG before type-B WUs can be fashioned and made available for crunching? For type-B: 3. 50 "groups" of type-B WUs. 25 pe "groups", and 25 se "groups"? Is there a fixed or variable number of type-B WUs in 1 type-B "group"? 4. Do we need to wait for all type-B WUs of all type-B groups or just the complete members of type-B WUs of any one type-B group to be returned from crunchers to-, and subsequently validated by-, WCG before type-C WUs can be fashioned and made available for crunching? For type-C: 5. 250*25, or 250*50 groups of type-C WUs? Good day ; |

1. Each group has 25 type A work units in them. For example the first set of work units had 1000 work units total. These were split into 40 batches (or groups).
2. Once 1 batch is completely done, then we send it back to the researchers. No need to wait for the others. 3. there will be 50 work units in a type B batch. 25 will be pe, 25 will be se. 4. Again, only need to wait for each batch. 5. 250*25 is the approximate number of work units in a batch. -Uplinger |

Thanks uplinger. Now I have a clear picture of WCG's deployment scheme for DDDT2.
Good day ; |

Maybe the project should be split into two -- "Lite" and "Heavy" in the Projects selection section of "My Grid". The run time and memory requirements don't worry me but the 20MB downloads of the p(x) tasks is a disincentive to crunching for DDDT-2.
I only have a wireless internet connection with a slow download speed and a high cost per byte. |

There's a matrix in Help [System Requirements] and in the FAQ's [Project Matrix] to latter I will add the DDDT2 in time. Lists out the download and upload sizes, and might consider to add a Mb per crunching hour average, per core of course.
----------------------------------------None are light on bandwidth. A type is 20mb (for 30-100 hours), C type is 20Mb (for 1-6 hours). That makes the A types in fact light on bandwidth per hour. BTW, the downloads and uploads you see are the uncompressed. BOINC and servers compress dynamically during transmission.

All 40 batches already got sent out (correct?), so soon some of those batches should be completing (any yet?), and then the B types go out to us immediately, they don't need to wait for feedback from the researchers (correct?) 2. Will there probably be a pause after the first 1000 as the researchers validate that all is going as planned, before kicking into a more normal cycle of keeping the hoppers full? |

1. all 40 have been sent out. None have completed as far as I can tell. And the type B's will need to get feedback from researchers.
2. We are working with the researchers to get the next 2000 work units ready for members. We have completed the preruns of them and are transferring them to the proper locations now. -Uplinger |

We have completed the preruns of them and are transferring them to the proper locations now. Does this mean the next series of A batches are going to be release today? |

They are not going to be released just yet. Need to check something with the researchers on them first.
