Re: What Projects are you crunching here at WCG

I have been concentrating on trying to get HST WUs, with some success here and there. I'm now only 38 crunch days away from emerald. Not sure what I'll do once I make it to emerald: start the VERY long trek to sapphire or the even LONGER trek to diamond for MIP. The good news is that there is work to do (even better news would be the announcement for the Climate projects wink ).

MIP and Open Zika both of which intrigue me. There must be a gazillion proteins coded by microbial genes. How are they going categorize the output and interpret it? I am looking forward to "Rainfall modeling" and wonder what a work unit will look like.

I've decided to try to make it to sapphire for HST since I finally got a small queue setup and apparently I'm able to get WUs to keep it going. We'll see if this tendency continues.

I continue to slug away at HST trying to make it to sapphire, still have 244 days to go which in theory I should finish in about 2.5 months. Luck to all.

Re: What Projects are you crunching here at WCG

Well, I'm now in a bit of a quandry...

I'm fast approaching my 5 year Diamond for MCM, and thus, I'm now trying to decide which project to move to.

I've still got a little way to go for my Emerald MIP badge (nevermind Sapphire) - but I'm not concerned for that project. Ideally, I'm waiting (as, I guess many others are), for these climate change projects - but, as we've been waiting for quite some teim (and no sign of any Beta testing coming anytime soon), I'm going to have to pick another Sapphire badge to progress to Diamond - a 3 year gap... My thoughts are to take a risk with Zika - hoping that that particular project will last long enough for me to reach that 5 year target.

I shall have to have a serious think over the weekend - but I'm open to suggestions...

Well, I decided (based on the information we HAD at the time), to go for Zika 5 year badge, finish off MCM to 5 years, get MIP to 5 years and then 'see as to how things go' with these new project(s). AFter that, I'm totally in the dark (and tempted not to continue), as we simply don't know as to how long each project has got left... Where's the fun/incentive to continue onto a 10 year badge - if there's no clue as to if you'll achieve it or not. At least with the old Research page (and the 'guiestimate' of a completion date/progress), we had a reasonable 'stab in the dark' attempt at judging as to where to direct our resources. Hopefully (and here's hoping), something will change on that front before I become totally blind as to which direction/project to take.

Well, still plugging away at HST...have only 20 days to go to make it to sapphire, but it seems more difficult to get the WUs. At the same time trying half heartedly to hunt for APR WUs which seem as difficult to get as the HST WUs (oh well sad )... and when nether of the before WUs are available, the queue has MIP WUs to crunch on, which I assume I will be taking to the 5 year badge once I reach sapphire for HST.
Luck to all

Re: What Projects are you crunching here at WCG

Now I only have 15 days to sapphire for HST (YooHoo !!!). I have absolutely NO idea when I'm going to make it since getting HST WUs is someplace between rare and scarse sad. Pretty much the same for APR, but since it's just starting and has kinks to be ironed out, it's not a priority for me right now. That leaves me with MIP and taking it to diamond. That wasn't my current main objective, but due to the state of everything else, guess what? I now have a new directive: diamond for MIP, here I come !!! *
* This will take a long time: I only have one machine to crunch with and it's not available 100%... patience little Grasshopper, patience biggrin

Re: What Projects are you crunching here at WCG

I finally made it to sapphire for HST (YooHoo !!!) and also got bronze for APR. So unless something drastic changes, I will keep going after MIP, HST and APR. Let's see what the crunching gods have for me. Luck to all.
