biggrin Re: At your home how many active devices do you have?

I have 5 quad-core desktops, 3 dual-core desktops, 7 dual-core laptops, and 1 single-core laptop actively crunching. 41 cores crunching! I also have another 2 dual-core laptops, not cruching currently. 49 total cores!
I added 4 GPU cores to the mix for crunching recently too! So 45 cores crunching now!

Re: At your home how many active devices do you have?

20+ CPU cores & 6 GPUs running 24/7, and an intermittant quad with a GPU. They get through about 100K Boinc points per day, just not all here!

Just an old and slow machine, with a single core... sad

One dual-core and one quad-core. There have been a few others that lived out their retirement days crunching here.

I passed the 100 threads limit. My whole system stands now at:

11 devices with 62 cores running 124 threads.
Cumulative frequency is at 245.6 Ghz. To calculate that, I use only the physical cores and their frequencies.

Re: At your home how many active devices do you have?

GHz is an interesting way to view it, but perhaps not the best as it does not accurately reflect the processing power of your CPU. For example a Pent. D 945 was clocked at 3.4GHz, but would not be as powerful as an Intel Core 2 duo clocked at 2.4GHz, becasue of the CPU architecture; there are more transistors on the IC2D and more operations types.
On about 6 devices (24 threads) I have about 60GHz of CPU power, but I only have one i7. My 60GHz includes lesser quads (Q6600, a Phenom II and a Q8400). Relative to your 245 from i7's it would be more like 40GHz.

Mind you, each one of my systems has at least one GPU; if not, it gets switched off!

Not sure what the CPU GFlops rating would be combined, but an i7-980X has a peak rating of 107.55 GFLOPS (wiki), so at a very rough guess it would total about 200 to 250GFlops CPU power.
I usually only crunch single precision GPU tasks, so although its not a fair comparison (designed to do different things) even my smallest cards (GT240s) are about 300GFlops peak and in total I have about 4000GFlops for my GPU's.
So, if it has no GPU, I'm not prepared to pay for the electric, especially in the summer!

My daughters joined in with their dual-core laptops and my sister in Arizona is now lending a hand to help push me to sapphire on HFCC before it ends. I also managed to get one of the retired computers to wake up and run too. I now have 13 core crunching. I hope they will stay after HFCC is done.

The retired computer has a bad hard disk. It crashes once in a while, but mostly runs.

Cheers coffee
