Not getting any tasks
For this project it says it needs 7GB more but I have set off 15GB

For 2 other projects is says I have set of 0MB and it needs 2-500.

Why is this?

ok, after 'resetting' and updating, it starts to download png and gif then stops.

The other 2 projects remain the same as before.

The amount of free disk space is one part, the other part being how much you've specified as allowed for BOINC and the percent of that. For that visit in the client preferences or the My Grid > Device Manager > Device Profile on the website. If you look in the client startup log you'll be able to tell.

If you post the start up log, first 30 lines we'll be able to read with you what is in effect.

Hi again,

your problem is the install location Data directory: F:\Data

BOINC counts everything in the the directory where data is stored and ALL subdirectories. Reinstall and specify D:\Data\BOINC

Reinstalling to F:\Data\BOINC 10 min has gone migrating application data, but ther program is only 7MB - so I wonder this is supæposed to take so long for such a small program?

Apparently BOINC had decided to copy numerous of my program folders down into BOINC

This is clearly insane.

last time I tried BOINC it installed something I suspect was a virus.

Think that during the migration the old data_dir store is maintained until it's complete.

BOINC itself does not take more than 10-15mb in the C:\program files\BOINC location, but the data_dir part with projects such as CPDN can take gigabytes in work files. That's why the BOINC default is 10Gb. Keep in mind some run 30-40 projects off the same client, so it's a one size fits all setting.

Let's not get into the viral argument. There isn't and BOINC is quite good and knowing what's there and checking it's legal, crc checks and whatnot, sandboxing as much as possible to prevent contaminations by anything untoward.

PS: If you open up BOINC Manager, Disk Tab you see 2 pie charts displaying which project is using what.
