I have a result pending validation for 5 days, and i dont belive this is something usual

If you go to your My Grid | Results Status page, and have a look at the WU in question, and that should inform you as to whether it's a single quorum or a multi-quorum work unit. If it's a multi-quorum WU (i.e. another copy has been sent out to another user), you'll have to wait until that copy is returned in order to allow an attempt at validating this particular WU.

that should be it, it said minimum quorum is 2, and the returm time is 2/15/10. Thank you for help, but now I have another question, what if the other result is not returned at deadline? What happens then?

I have 58 WU's pending validation for HCC. This project is usually a bit slow on Validation but I think with so many Betas recently going out, there is more lag than usual.
Today I had a FA@H task validated after 10days. Fortunately these oddities are limited to a few projects. |

Last week and weekend I did a purposeful test to observe how the grass was growing for the HCC project and to see if it was better with the caching situation than HCMD, but I got disappointed... work in the project queue through 2012 and 7 jobs I pulled and forced to start in combo's 1, 2, 4 and 6 of 7 results sitting in PV jail... between 2.5 and 4.5 days later:

The main reason for the test was to determine if concurrent HCC crunching would effect performance on W7-64... I never knew it ran and quite a bit faster than under Vista-32 :D Crunch On.

About 0.01 days buffer does well when always connected. No stress... I'd tend to buffer up slightly more than 0.01 day's worth of extra work - just to cover those very, very rare occasions when something, somewhere goes wrong and it's not possible to get any more work. As to buffering up more than this (certainly greater than 3-4 days' worth), well I'd be tempted to say that a very small minority of crunchers have this need. |

Without doubt there is need in some cases to have a buffer. 2 of my boxes are also in that case, and have about 60 hours buffer. The remaining have 0.01.
In case of "something going wrong", usually I have multiple WCG projects selected, and some low resource share Boinc projects. If the "something wrong" is on my network connection, then, well, hm, so be it I guess. Anyway, smaller buffers overall will make for smaller PV lists. Since some users keep up large or even maximum buffers, a 5 day PV delay is no reason for concern. 10 days (240h) is longtime but still within limits for HCC. |
