What's your best file zipper?

brinktastee wrote in that he used stuffit to get a previously set of files in zip to compress down from 8mb to 6.4 mb to mail intermediate result files back to the techs. For years I've been using 7-zip, mostly storing to the rar format, sometimes their 7z packaging. Are there other famously better, where I think WCG uses the on the fly gzip format. There's claim to fame also for something to WinUHA.

On the quick found this comparing review

Do tell, what's best for you, for free of course :D
