Sounds like a utopy... a rich country like USA with this kind of problem !

Almost all Dengue fever vectors mosquitoes will be destroyed during winter time, but the eggs survives away inside protected places acessed by the matrix generators. It is the same vector of yellow fever.

When the Spring came with warm time, it became a plague again.

We have here in Brazil, a kind of annual alerts campaigns of all levels of governments, specially during the warm months, to call for people about risks and ask help to erradicate any mostoes focus.

Many Brazilians are reached by this diseases each year. This plague becames a serious public health problem in many areas, since the main vector of this disease was introduced here (one of the vectors of yellow fever too, a mosquito species called Aedes aegypti originary from Africa http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aedes_aegypti ).

Hope that USA government focus on it early to avoid the kind of headake that we have here...
