I know it is a thread about device listings (I checked it because there is currently another thread about devices offered for remotely controlling BOINC and I wanted to be sure I was not mixing both). By the way if we mention the original topic this thread is about devices possibly missing from the list, not about removing them from that list, so your question would have been better asked in one of the many other threads that my search is showing. Assuming that after browsing these threads you were still feeling the need to ask the questions.
---------------------------------------- I have not looked at the timestamp of the wiki because I know that what it describes is still valid, I am sorry for you about that. When there are website updates, particularly major ones like what you wish, the staff is kind enough to inform the CAs a little before moving them to production. Stats could be attributed to the user account directly... Not really. For people interested with device statistics results need to be attributed to the devices which have produced them. Assuming that nobody wants to know about device statistics for retired devices (but is this true?) results of retired devices could be consolidated under dummy device names. Perhaps. I cannot be sure that it would be a straightforward process or that everybody would be happy with that, but anyway that would be a major conversion and I do not think that it is currently in the plans. As I mentioned recently in another thread something simpler would be to create and display a count of active devices like BOINCstats does, i.e. devices which have returned a result in the last 30 days, for example. Maybe that will happen some day, I don't know. Note that people in charge of WCG communications might not like it since that would publicize a number which would be much less impressive than the current " 1,456,227" devices... Cheers. Jean. |

Right, but on the other hand by saying that we have only as an example 550'000 devices it is easier to campaign for reaching the psychological goal of 1 MILLION active devices. ![]() ![]() |

Goes to demonstrate that few look at the unofficial charts low key curves that track active members and devices... thing is, there's currently a trend of retiring multiple single cores for multi-cores, so one needs to look in combo with the TFL to get the right appreciation.
