Full Resolution There are 4 major types of work units for Discovering Dengue Drugs - Together Phase 2. These are: Prerun, Type A, Type B, Type C. The results from the work units feed into the next type. This means that the results for prerun are used as input for Type A work units. These results are first sent back to the researchers to make sure that they are valid before sending onto the next type. Below are descriptions on each type. Prerun: These work units are run on alpha grid. This decision was made due to the high upload to runtime ratio. Runtime: ~1 hour Download: ~100 KB Upload: ~20 MB Identifier: pb Results: Create 1 type A work unit Checkpoints: None Type A: These work units are the very long running work units. Runtime: 30-100 hours Download: ~20 MB Upload: ~2 MB Identifier: ps Results: Creates 2 total Type B work units (1 se and 1 pe) Checkpoints: 50 times within a work unit. Evenly throughout the run, every 2%. Type B: These work units are faster with very frequent checkpoints. Runtime: 5-10 Hours Download: ~2MB (se) or ~20MB (pe) Upload: ~2MB (se and pe) Identifier: se, pe Results: Creates ~250 total Type C workunits (vary from each identifier) Checkpoints: Very frequent, as quick as every 10 seconds Type C: These are where most of the overal work will be done. These work units are the final step in the process. Runtime: 1-5 Hours Download: ~2MB (sq, sd, sr) or ~20MB (pq, pd, pr, pc, pl) Upload: < 1MB Identifier: pq, pd, pr, pc, pl, sq, sd, sr Results: These are the final step. Results are sent to researchers Checkpoints: Frequent, about 1 per minute Another thing to know about the work units is they will be sent with two copies sent out to two different hosts. This is used for validation of the results. Also, since this a given batch will go through the four types, we will more than likely be processing batches at all different types at any given time. Tips on identifiers. To find out what type of work unit you have you will notice that in the work unit name, there are 6 characters at the end. The first two of those 6 is the identifier. (ex: ly01_a015_pe0000 Falls into type B.pe) -Uplinger (Edit: put smaller version of image in post) [Edit 1 times, last edit by uplinger at Dec 16, 2009 11:44:54 PM] |

Also, this phase of the BETA has 211 work units only for this BETA of the type A's.
This means like other BETA's we will be sending out 3 copies of each work unit and validating after two results are in. Please let us know if you encounter any issues with these work units. Thanks, -Uplinger |
