Who owns the results? Are they Public Accessible?

Hi,

I have read a lot in the WCG pages but there is a doubt I need to comment with everyone and maybe get some answers.

Are the results obtained by the many different projects Public accessible?
Meaning can any Institution in the World get those results and use them in their own research ?

Another related IP issue is whether WCG acts as a "seller" of those results or a free distributer of those same results.

And also now that I am on to this WCG project usage thing, can anyone with a good idea contact WCG and make a new project ?
How are the projects started in WCG?

I know this is maybe too much to ask, but anyhow I will give it a try.

Best regards,
Pedro

Re: Who owns the results? Are they Public Accessible?

I found in a recent search 19 papers and publications from WCG projects and actually 4 developed databases the world-wide science community can draw from... anyone volunteering to do the work and update the Wiki to include developing a WCG synopsis?

Projects can be proposed to WCG, for which there is a form and a bunch of criteria that it must meet... such as the results being public and humanitarian. How to: See the WCG front page Research Menu, second option from the top.

Re: Who owns the results? Are they Public Accessible?

Thanks for both replies.

I have been looking into the WCG web pages and this type of WCG results usage is not very easy to find.
I leave here my recommendation that maybe (IMHO) it would be good if the published work and used results would be more publicized in WCG web pages, in this manner everyone contributing cpu cycles would see clearly and immediately their CPU time well spent.

Regards,
Pedro

You're absolutely right about this. I hope WCG changes its appearance in this manner to a bit more scientific community direction. Anyway wiki doesn't contain all the articles published from our work but you can find them from community forums (by searching...). It would be nice if all the information was gathered in one place, so let's hope someone more familiar with terms of this area steps out.
