No doubt there is an underlying probabilistic reason, but which?

Picked up 2 RICE results with a time stamp 1 second apart.

1. R00462_ aea22159e993268d26bb7f30bbda34c2_ 02_ 17-- 95711 Valid 12/8/09 07:42:42 12/9/09 18:15:02 7.04 74.0 / 87.3
2. R00462_ aea22159e993268d26bb7f30bbda34c2_ 03_ 8-- 95711 Pending Validation 12/8/09 07:42:43 12/9/09 17:29:03 7.00 73.6 / 0.0

1. Validated immediately and now has 15 valid of 19.
2. Is still waiting, had 6 returned at time of upload and now has 8.

1. Had the 19 results distributed in a time spread of 70 minutes
2. Had the 19 results distributed in a time spread of 47 minutes

How probable is it that one flows quick through the grid and the other is just moving so slow?

A teaser to which I've not got a plausible answer cool

edit: spelling.

There is the possibility that one was only loaded in the the scheduler half way. meaning 8 of the 19 were loaded, then when the scheduler needed more work, it pulled in the rest. while the other got all 19 pulled in one try. Just speculation.

Re: No doubt there is an underlying probabilistic reason, but which?

Trusting the Sent Time stamps, I'd like to think all were really handed over to crunchers on the grid.

Maybe a farm owner that runs a longer buffer got ahold of them. Anyway, just before lunch 5 more popped in within the hour according their time stamps and facilitated validation. It's intriguing how 2 init distro's of 19 for 2 results so close in the transmission can have such diverse completion.

edit: Kind of "How's the weather, on the grid" ;>)
