Some clients [which versions I don't remember, but knowing that 6.10.22 does presently] can complete screw up input when values entered with a comma, like I do. Of course Windows localizations were blamed when commented, gfb, it could be BOINC which because of uniformity with the server side only stores values with decimal dot... so 0,01 could work out as 0,01 thousand being 10 ;>)
----------------------------------------Lately I'm being told that 1:00 hours CET, the time that I want the scheduler to close the BOINC network connection to shut down is not the proper format....

Deadlines are 10 days so I don't see how you could miss that with a .01 cache??? Have you double checked that setting? Are you using local preferences or the settings on the web? If you ever set anything in local it will override your web settings. If you want to go back to web settings you will have to open the local preferences dialog box and click the clear button. I'm absolutely 100% certain of that setting. 0.01 Used a decimal point and a leading 0. There are 2 tasks listed in the task list, both of which are being worked on (one by each core of the CPU). As for how it's missing the deadlines, I would guess it's just not finishing. For example, if my box is on 1.5 hours/day average and a task takes 30 hours to complete, it would take 20 days to finish. It's the only thing that makes sense to me. It is puzzling though, if HCC tasks are supposed to be quick, why is it taking so long to get done? (It was fine when I was using this laptop as my primary lappy, but when I got a new one and relegated this one to an MP3 player and not being on a lot, deadlines were missed.) I'm not certain of the BOINC client version, but will either check it when I get home or just set it to work on the projects with tasks that take ~6-7 hours instead. Thanks for the input everybody. |

HCC is fairly quick, you just don't let it crunch enough :-)
While I have a higher end machine whoich won;t make for a very good comparison, I can complete an HCC WU in under 4 hours. If you are set on how long, how much CPU time while it is running (default is 60%, maybe turn that up a little?) and how you are going to let this machine crunch then I would suggest switching to RICE as that will crunch for 7 hours and return whatever results you managed to complete. |

GraffBayCity,
----------------------------------------Laptops are usually set for not crunching while running on battery, and if you use yours as an mp3 player maybe you use it much on battery? Maybe that could explain? Jean. |
