Thanks Sek.
I tried a similar aproach twice before, but saw no difference. So perhaps there is something I am not doing correctly. I will try again, but many of my systems only run WCG and are not readily accessible! I think I may have setup WCG on a system that had no other projects at the time, so it created a new account. Also, when I sign up for WCG, I just enter a user name and not an email address. The other projects required me to sign in with an email address and password while WCG just required a user name and password. I think there might have been an issue with some projects at the time - If I remember correctly, the first project I signed up to was climate prediction. This might have used its own software? Climate prediction 5th June 06 SIMAP 6th June 06 Rosetta 7th June 06 Tanpaku 10th Nov 06 . . WCG 25th Mar 07 . . |

Does anyone KNOW how to fix this? No random speculations please, this is one for the experts. Thanks, Well, doing some "random speculations"... If your oldest project and WCG is both attached on the same computer, and it still doesn't syncronize, my guess is you're not using the same email-address on all accounts... Now, you'll likely say "but they are the same", and most likely you did input them the same way in all the various projects. But, probably you've overlooked one thing, email-addresses is CaSE-insensitive, meaning: TeST@offline.nothing test@OFFLINE.NOTHING TeSt@offLINE.notHING is all the same email-address. BOINC knows this fact, and just to make things simple, is converting all email-addresses to lower-case, both before checking if it's the correct email-address, and before storing it in the database. WCG on the other hand seems to have forgotten email-addresses is case-insensitive, and atleast a quick test seems to indicate you'll get a different CPID if you changes one or more of the letters to lower/uppercase, atleast it did display a different CPID on the bottom of the profile-page when I tested this... If this will lead to a splitting of the stats I don't know, and in any case I've already reverted-back to all lower-case... So, if your email-address here at WCG shows-up with one or more caps, try changing them all to lowercase, and save the profile. Afterwards, hit "update" on WCG-project in BOINC Manager. ![]() "I make so many mistakes. But then just think of all the mistakes I don't make, although I might." |

Buy coincidence, I firmly am a fan of coincidence as it can be forced, a guy called Bigdan43 was pointed to the BAM forums for assistance, with this link http://boincstats.com/forum/forum_index.php . If you can't get it solved, that's the numero uno place on CPID synching. Your problem is most probably your out of reach remote clients. LogMeIn does that job well for me, but it needs installing on those clients, with the owners permission.

Ingleside, I think you may be on to something, speculative or not!
I have used capitals on some projects, so I will have to go through each and every live project and make sure my username and email address are the same. I know that when using BAM, other projects can be updated collectively, but on WCG any email or username changes have to be performed manually. I appear 3 times in a BAM search. As for coincidences, I dealt with an email issue on an Outlook Client and Exchange Server recently that reflected some similarities to my problem. Thanks for the link. |

CPID is a randomly generated 32 bit character value so it's no surprise each time it's entered a new / different one appears... not going to try it, but changing the email in the account and changing it back, should then return the old CPID. Who's game?
----------------------------------------Yes, case sensitive, mentioned ad infinitum on our forums. edit: here for instance http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/...ead,19885_offset,0#163302 edit2: Asked webmaster to add a note to the My Profile email field on the case sensitivity.
