Re: Terrorism in Anerica

I'd say it was the act of a sick man. Yesterday in Oregon a man shot and killed his ex-wife and put some bullets in some random people around the scene before offing himself. If it turns out that he was a Muslim, was it suddenly an act of terror instead of an act of sick desperation? When is it terrorism anyway... is it how many people you kill? In one act or multiple acts? Does religion or politics have to be involved or can it just be some sick person who decides to take a bunch of people with them when they go?

When is it terrorism anyway?

When you identify it with a shout. When it is ideologically motivated action. When you express those views for years. When you plan it with calmly and in detail.

Also when he is trying to contact al-Qaeda before it happens.

My question.... When it will stop this farce of not saying things on their rightfully name?

"A nation can survive its fools, and even the ambitious. But it cannot survive treason from within. An enemy at the gates is less formidable, for he is known and carries his banner openly. But the traitor moves amongst those within the gate freely, his sly whispers rustling through all the alleys, heard in the very halls of government itself. For the traitor appears not a traitor; he speaks in accents familiar to his victims, and he wears their face and their arguments, he appeals to the baseness that lies deep in the hearts of all men. He rots the soul of a nation, he works secretly and unknown in the night to undermine the pillars of the city, he infects the body politic so that it can no longer resist. A murderer is less to be feared." -- Marcus Tullius Cicero ----Dataman thamks for poimtimg that out to ne

Re: Terrorism in America

It is starting to look like the attack and killings were carried out by a man confused and conflicted by his Religion. He seems to have been confused about the fact that Muslims have been fighting other Muslims for thousands of years and yet he thought it was okay to let people not do that here in the US. He seems to have become confused on the 'mission' and got it mixed up with the Religious aspects of the World. Muslims fought Muslims in the Iran/Iraq war, Muslims fought Muslims when Saddam Hussein took over Kuwait, there are endless examples of Muslims fighting Muslims over the last thousand or more years. Yet this one guy got it into his head that it was wrong for American Muslims to fight Middle Eastern Muslims! Even the Imams say he was not thinking right!! Most Religions have fought among themselves in the past, there is probably one or two that haven't but I can't think of them right now. Even the Americans fought among themselves in the US Civil War!! People and Countries fight all the time, sometimes over the stupidest of things, in hindsite anyway!
