This has been happening over the BOINC community for well over a year - I first noticed it at Rosetta and posted about it....it was then found to be a common problem everywhere - it seems it has taken this long to reach here. BOINC admin said they were going to stop it happening....but it seems to be still happening....

Hola a todos.
Llevo procesando para WCG desde 1/3/07. Primero con el equipo Noticias3d y ahora con TitanesDC. El equipo TitanesDC se fundo con mucha gente del equipo Noticias3d. No se puede permitir que alguien ajeno a mi antiguo equipo y por querer destacar mas en las estadisticas se agencie un equipo que no es suyo y ni ha participado ni una sola vez en el. Todos los que hemos procesado para Noticias3D pedimos que vuelvan los puntos donde siempre estuvieron, ya que como a mi, en nuestro historial nos aparece que hemos procesado para el equipo "Rio Grande Du Sul" cuando nunca a sido asi. Gracias por todo y perdon por no hablar ingles. |

I am the captain of N3D team and I don't know how this problem happened since I am almost sure about I did all the things to become as captain of N3D in all our projects.

Things must be clear:
----------------------------------------Only the captain of a team or WCG techs/admins can change its name. The captain can also create challenges and/or have its team join other challenges. The captain can also send mails to members who allowed this option in their profile. To become the captain of a team the captain position must be vacant and then any member of the team can become the captain of this team. If the captain position is not vacant only WCG techs/admins can change the captain's membername and they do so only after having received an email clearly explaining the reasons of the request (most often the former captain has disappeared from WCG) and after checking that the former captain either does not answer or agrees to the change. For the current case of Noticias3D.com it seems clear that the captain position has been vacant for a long time, and this is not consistent with so many people showing as being attached to this team. And about people who have left the team, if they are so fond of this team why are not they still with it? And for the previous captain how could he leave his team without making sure that the door was not left wide open with the key in the lock? As opposed to Scribe's case (which also seems related to an inactive captain not responding to admins) members cannot be pushed out of a team in WCG. Therefore current and past members will stay with their stats. I hope that the mail that has been sent to the support team clearly explains how this situation could happen, states which member wants to become captain of the team and feels responsible about it, and possibly say which measures are taken for such things to not happen again. Otherwise admins will certainlly be not happy to deal with this mess. It is very easy to hold a team even if you want to completely leave it sleep inactive for ever (which was not yet the case here), so if you really want to all jump to this TitanesDC team and keep your "rights" onto Noticias3D, simply takes the time to create a dormant membername and set it as the captain of Noticias3D. All the above does not mean that I approve what has been done by alexbertani and his new teammates, but this is another story which I leave to admins. Cheers. Jean. |

But history is not the case.
----------------------------------------I as co-founder of TitanesDC give high team in 26/04/2009 WCG Karrash not joins until 14/05/2009 because it is the time it takes to transfer the captaincy team Noticias3D.com. As achieved "Mr" alexbertani Noticias3D.com captaincy is something that I don't know, I guess that you would send a mail to the administrator requesting change and this not able to contact the master is so granted. The computer name change performs it day 30/10/2009 and 31/10/2009 day there are people complaining of change. In my country this is called to steal in yours do not know but I imagine that it will be equal. I hope and desire for the sake of the community, to not only be restored the name of the computer to Noticias3D.com if not WCG take measures with the subject in question. Members of teams of Noticias3D.com, CANAL@Boinc and TitanesDC, Spain's strongest 3 teams are represented in this post, and between the 3 Add the considerable number of points (BOINC) in WCG 35.000.000 and between 3 computers talking over 1,700 members processing. Hi JmBoullier, and sorry this is a bit OT, but may I really ask to replace the current team captain if he/she hasn't been active for a while? My team's captain last result returned is from 15/Dec/04 (almost 5 years now). When I use the "e-mail captain" option I get the following message (in red letters): "There is not currently a captain of your team, or the captain of the team has not opted-in to receive E-mails from members of the team. " But there is a captain, so I guess the latter is the reason for the warning. Thanks in advance and sorry again for being OT. |
