I was wondering if it's possible to parse pages like the members list and main team pages for use on an site external to the WCG. The purpose being to setup a custom theme and rankings for a specific audience.
----------------------------------------Is this ethical? And is there any existing functionality provided by WCG to make this possible besides the widgets ? [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Oct 31, 2009 1:02:00 AM] |

The public facing stats pages are available in XML. Simple add
xml=true and you will get an easily parse-able version of the page. Ex: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/stat/viewGlobal.do?xml=true or http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/stat/viewGl...dsPerPage=14&xml=true |

That's a thing of beauty :)
----------------------------------------Thank you very much! Also, i'm working on a project for my college where students will/might be signing up by class (some sort of key in their user name) so the member list will potentially get very long. If the list becomes too big (multiple pages) how could I manage this? Was this available in an easy-to-find place like a FAQ? [Edit 2 times, last edit by Former Member at Nov 3, 2009 6:17:50 AM] |

Was this available in an easy-to-find place like a FAQ? It is available in the Overview section of the Website Help, question "Do you have an XML interface for the statistics?". You also have a pointer to it in The Start Here Forum Frequently Asked Questions Index , item 10-I Is it easy to find? This is very subjective... But if you use the search feature of the Website Help on "XML" what you want is the first item of the result list. Honestly, it is not always so easy. Cheers. Jean. |
