Re: BOINC cannot report tasks on Windows Server 2008

Shoot me. Why don't you switch plugs on your router. Also please read through this thread.

http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread_thread,24931

to set additional log flags and copy the new messages here when applied.

Re: BOINC cannot report tasks on Windows Server 2008

I don't have access to our company router.

I've used this link http://wcg.wikia.com/wiki/Client_configuration and this example:
<cc_config>
<log_flags>
<file_xfer_debug>1</file_xfer_debug>
<http_debug>1</http_debug>
<http_xfer_debug>1</http_xfer_debug>
<proxy_debug>1</proxy_debug>
</log_flags>
<options>
<client_version_check_url>http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/download.ph...ent_version_check_url>
<client_download_url>http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/download.php</client_download_url>
<network_test_url>http://www.ibm.com/</network_test_url>
<start_delay>120</start_delay>
</options>
</cc_config>

Re: BOINC cannot report tasks on Windows Server 2008

Ah, company router... well that is something that can start causing problems outside of your control, question here being why your XP assigned device managed to get past and the W2K8 server doesn't.

Anyway, this is a piece of a working device (the thread link)

25.03.2009 13:30:13||[http_debug] HTTP_OP::libcurl_exec(): ca-bundle 'C:\Program Files\BOINC\ca-bundle.crt'
25.03.2009 13:30:13||[http_debug] HTTP_OP::libcurl_exec(): ca-bundle set

and yours

10/26/2009 5:49:26 AM||[http_debug] [ID#0] info: successfully set certificate verify locations:
10/26/2009 5:49:26 AM||[http_debug] [ID#0] info: CAfile: C:\Program Files (x86)\BOINC\ca-bundle.crt CApath: none

find the ca-bundle.crt file and copy it also to the program directory C:\Program Files (x86)\BOINC\

worth a try.

Re: BOINC cannot report tasks on Windows Server 2008

C:\Program Files (x86)\BOINC\ca-bundle.crt is present

Well, also I have an idea that WinXP and Win2008 are maintained by different WGC servers, one of them may experience problems today.

Re: BOINC cannot report tasks on Windows Server 2008

If in Program dir copy to Data_dir 10/26/2009 5:10:38 AM||Data directory: C:\ProgramData\BOINC

This does not make sense, but BOINC indicates it's not seeing it.

Check the ownership and permissions too on that file.

Re: BOINC cannot report tasks on Windows Server 2008

Yes there are 2 servers to be able to have a fallback option, each covering half of the traffic in normal operation, but if you had a problem, others would do too.

Did you copy the file to the data_dir? Think for 6.2 the location is different from 6.6 and just looking, I got a copy for the 6.2 client in the data_dir. When did you update to 6.6.38?

Anyway, I'll ask a tech to look in. Maybe they can see something from the server end.

Re: BOINC cannot report tasks on Windows Server 2008

I just installed 6.6.38, no upgrades, then computed ~12 WU, 8 are sent and 4 are stuck till now.

A cert-file was copied to data-dir.

Thank you for your support, I still hope to report these notorious WU.

Re: BOINC cannot report tasks on Windows Server 2008

Guess you tried the "Retry" by selecting the files to upload in the Transfers tab of BOINC Manager. Makes no sense at all after all you've gone through.

Anything new in the message log now that you've succeeded to upload 8 new jobs?

Re: BOINC cannot report tasks on Windows Server 2008

BOINC 6.6.38 on Windows Server 2008 x64 cannot report already completed tasks:

10/26/2009 2:18:19 AM World Community Grid update requested by user
10/26/2009 2:18:22 AM World Community Grid Sending scheduler request: Requested by user.
10/26/2009 2:18:22 AM World Community Grid Reporting 4 completed tasks, not requesting new tasks
10/26/2009 2:18:49 AM Project communication failed: attempting access to reference site
10/26/2009 2:18:50 AM Internet access OK - project servers may be temporarily down.
10/26/2009 2:18:52 AM World Community Grid Scheduler request failed: Failed sending data to the peer

No proxy, no special settings, everything was working fine till now. Client has been already restarted - no way. Windows XP in the same network had the same error this morning, but only once.

How to report these tasks or do it via another computer?

I sometimes get this same problem but if I retry by hitting the 'update' button right away it seems to work for me. I see this on all my machines from my oldest XP Home, to my XP Pro machines and even to my newest Win7 machines, even my Server. I don't have a Vista machines right now but it did it too when I had one. It is like the website doesn't answer up in time before the error comes on the screen. I do not see it every time, just sometimes and like I said re-trying seems to work for me.
