confused [Solved] Results Error 193 (BOINC Ubuntu)

Hi All,

Hoping for some help. I'm transitioning from a Windows workstation to a Ubuntu workstation, but I can't get BOINC to work properly on Ubuntu. (It still works find on Windows, and I'm uploading successful results from that workstation)

I have BOINC 6.2.18-3 installed on Ubuntu Jaunty. It downloads jobs, but each submitted result has an error. (resulting in low quota -- but I assume that'll be solved when the errors are resolved) I can't figure this out. Anyone have any ideas?

Re: Results Error 193 (BOINC Ubuntu)

Hi,

this thread may be of interest. Same error, Linux, different project though:

Recently this error showed up and the tech thinking it might be related to the swap file size? Anything in the stdoutdae.txt file around the same time frame?

Re: Results Error 193 (BOINC Ubuntu)

Thanks for the ideas. In the end, I completely removed the application with "aptitude remove" and "aptitude purge" -- then reinstalled it all from the Canonical repositories. After re-attaching to the project, I'm seeing vastly different action. Two projects successfully downloaded, CPU cores at 100%, processing taking longer than 5 seconds to complete.... Looks very promising.

So the conclusion is that somehow, either the install or the settings were corrupted. I suspect settings since I had to completely purge the data directory and all settings before I got this new behavior.

Thanks!

[RESOLVED] Results Error 193 (BOINC Ubuntu)

Theoretically deleting the content from the data_dir and the project sub dir, after exiting the daemon/service (maybe even just a WCG project reset in the BOINC Manager), could have achieved this too.

Anyway, glad you're up and running again and thanks for marking the thread [RESOLVED]
