Compute Errors

I had two WU's from this project that showed Compute Errors but unable to see them because the Pages I need to see are being updated. Maybe I can get to them tomorrow.

Re: Compute Errors

Hi,

I think a system boot will end these cases. periodic soft booting is always a good thing.

Should it reoccur, find the Start Forum FAQ index, top of all forums and find the error code in there covered in the topic: Unrecoverable error for result "result&q...-1073741819 (0xc0000005)) . It's a multi step diagnostic path, finding the cause not guaranteed.

As for your client version 6.6.28, suggest upgrading to 6.6.38 to at least get to the recommended Berkeley client level or revert to the WCG version 6.2.28 for optimal support.

Re: Compute Errors

Thanks!

I try using 6.6.38 but it won't run under limited user acounts. I am testing the WCG_BOINC-6.6.28 on one of my PC with VISTA and it is having problems locking up on some projects. Not really understanding why but I am working on it. I think has something to do with the Screensaver, when I move my mouse nothing happens. I end up rebooting.

Re: Compute Errors

Probably you meant WCG-BOINC 6.2.28

Why 6.6.38 would not run under ltd user account I don't know. Mind you, I've tried this myself and it gave heartburn, so I make sure to install with protected, all users.

As for the mouse move SS lock, yes that's a known issue. Esc out should bring up the password screen, but you could also change the SS to something none-BOINC related. Switching off the SS password option is not recommended.

Re: Compute Errors

Had another Compute Error today. Was not able to go to see it due to the page being updated (Seems to be my luck!).

As far as rebooting this system, It goes to work with me each day witch means it gets shut down and booted up 2 or 3 times a day. So far this project is only acting up on this PC. As soon as I can I will remove this project from this computer.

I have never used the password for SS before. But I did set it to "NONE" for screensaver and I set it to just turn off the screen after XX mins.

Re: Compute Errors

UPDATE: The PC that was having the problem finished the rest of the WU's for this project with no problems. Makes me wonder if those WU's were bad???

Re: Compute Errors

If all or a majority of the 19 tasks in a quorum go bad, end in error, for a specific series of results I'd grant you your wonder. Since you have not brought anything up of the kind, think it was your computer or a bad client. As repeated many times, only with 5.10.45 I can get RICE to run on my duo, an issue as illusive as those having all or random fail with HPF2.

"Since you have not brought anything up of the kind"

You lost me on the one. I did paste one of the errors on here but saw no reason for pasting them all since they came out the same.

I have done a complete scan on that PC for bad Ram, Viruses and checked for disc errors and all updates are in place. I was not able to find anything wrong. Guess I'll have to wait for some to fail before I can fix it.

Thanks for your help

This is a quorum 19 sample of a good RICE work unit:

If there were a bad batch, which is what I understood your words to mean, I'd expect so see multiple if not more results in the same quorum with same error.

If this - exit code -1073741819 (0xc0000005) came out of nowhere and a boot has since not made them to show again, I'd not worry about it, certainly with the diagnostics you've now ran.
