It looks like I picked a great time to check the forums & catch the start of this new Beta.
----------------------------------------However the RAM in this computer is only 1G & I keep getting a notice that I'm not big enough for section A . Hopefully the B & C sections are more willing to play with my computer & help me towards that ever elusive Beta badge . |

The B and C types will come after the A's are completed. But again, we have not set the requirements yet, but I believe they will be a lot lower than type A's. The A's should take a few days to complete with their massive runtimes.

Wow a few days. My quad picked up two and is estimating them at 5 hours each. Maybe it's in for a surprise...

Have they all gone out? I know there weren't many. And I suspect my machine was too late to request new work.
----------------------------------------Edit: Nevermind two WU's just dropped into my quads crunch list. Second Edit: Another three arrived. I'm rich!! [Edit 2 times, last edit by widdershins at Oct 6, 2009 7:51:47 PM] |

joneill003, there were half that were about 1/10th the size of the normal ones, these went out first. you can tell if it's a smaller type A by the ps0005 in the name.
widdershins, No they have not all gone out...i think the big full ones are still coming. -uplinger |

Over the past 20 min or so my dual Xeon picked up 6 tasks. Not the fastest machine in the world. Estimating at 15 hours each. If they truly run for days they might not all finish. Good thing for the extended deadlines :)

Looks like the full sized work units are starting to go out. you can tell these by the ps0000 in the work unit name.

However the RAM in this computer is only 1G & I keep getting a notice that I'm not big enough for section A . My PC has 4 GB and I was unable to get this unit. Here info from log "06-Oct-2009 21:35:38 [World Community Grid] Message from server: Beta - Discovering Dengue Drugs - Together - Phase 2 needs 1802.24 MB RAM but only 1663.51 MB is available for use." I have Windows7 32bit and only 3,25 GB can be used by the system. 2GB for single workunit... |

Please check your device profiles, you may have it set to only use 75% of memory while computer is in use. You can bump that higher if you wish to do so.
But yes, the type A work units are monsters :) -Uplinger |

How are you going to get a lot of hosts for crunching DDDT2 if you need >300kb/s bandwidth and 2GB of free ram? that's not cruncher-friendly! :(
