Rice will get a spurt on ?

Dear All

With the additional data to be crunched the latest estimate is that Rice is 56% of the way there and will be completed by June 2011.

With Clean Energy and Influenza coming to an end I can see Rice getting a Spurt on at least until the next projects are released.

Anyone hazard a guess when Rice will now really finish ?

Regards

Lufty

No idea - although I will say that, both CEP & IADS were both 'low priority' projects, and thus won't have freed up huge resources to be shared between all the other 6 active projects.

So, I'd say that, yes, there'll be a slight improvement on the end date, but not that much...

Agreed with this... HOWEVER

I have seen several people say that they are moving on to Rice in the forum. I know many are trying to achieve multiple years of crunching, like 5 or 10 or 25 per project, in preparation for new, super-badges to be released. Knowing that Rice is probably the next to end, they are focusing on it first. If we do see power crunchers move over to Rice en masse, it's possible the date could be pushed up. However, as yet I have seen no evidence that people are massively migrating to Rice.

Also, the sheer number of new users will speed up the projects, all else remaining equal.

As a counterbalance, keep in mind that we will also see the imminent reveal of CEP2 and DDDT2, which will take cycles away from the older projects. And in the near-longer term we will see Flu2 and ACH2. Plus, who knows what other new, as yet unknown projects may come. All of these will pull cycles from the older projects.

Re: Rice will get a spurt on ?

Well DDDT was big enough so that it might make the end date move closer for rice if users from it migrate to rice.

Re: Rice will get a spurt on ?

I already have 26 years on rice. So I'm focusing on "Childhood Cancer" and "Muscular Dystrophy" since I'm under 3 years on those.

Re: Rice will get a spurt on ?

i guess this post was right...My Core 2 duo was asking for tasks only for rice and said"no work is availiable for the projects you selected"
Fortunately i had "the if no work is availiable for the..." ticked

Re: Rice will get a spurt on ?

It happens since each project has a daily overall quota and not always an equal number are produced and sitting in the shared memory region... so good for you having that backup box ticked to maximize use of idle cycles.
