This is a serious matter. When someone with power abuses that power to suppress civilised discussion, then something is very wrong.

When they use that power to suppress discussion of their actions at all, then there isn't even a pretence of fair play.

When they allow bigotry and intolerance, but spend hours stamping out anything that remotely questions their authority - then it absolutely stinks.
