need support help, uploading and new tasks
I seem to be having trouble uploading finished work and also my computer is not downloading new work. I have not changed anything and it has previously worked for more then a year. I have tried telling the project to update and have manually hit "upload" and it goes to start uploading then says that it will retry in X amount of time. When that amount of time goes by the same thing happens again.

Also it is not downloading new projects. In the messages box it says that my internet connection is fine (obviously since im posting here) but that the project servers may be temporarily down. Yet, this has been going on for about a month.

How do I fix this problem? Can I switch to a new project server? if so how?

Please post any relevant messages from BOINC manager.
And while you are at it please also post the startup messages at the top of your message log. Every info can help us to see where is the problem, and that will also avoid us asking you for your configuration details one at a time. smile

But oddly networking messages continuing. Always thought that if computation was stopped, networking was too.

Anyway, possibly your Firewall needs a little help with the new version install. This new boinc.exe needs permission to use ports 80 and 443, a secure port. The 80 is open since there is a confirmation:

So it looks like port 443 needs a push.

Very possibly he runs the WCG kit because he only runs WCG, a very stable client still on the download page here. WCG is alpha testing 6.10... early days.

@caleb,

to add, did you recently boot your computer or is there a router/modem combo in between? Could be as simple as refreshing the DNS i.e. restarting both. See there was never an FAQ raised for the specific error.

Scheduler request failed: Couldn't connect to server

Found one external, but don't think it fully covering the issue as WCG requires the secure port 443 for outward traffic.

well i said i didnt change anything 1) because the problem was there before this update and 2) because it didnt seem to have actually updated (but i was wrong i guess)

also I have already restarted and i can't change anything with my internet connection as I am using a school wireless. While normally I would instantly blame this entire problem on them there have been 2 projects that have gone through while on this wireless system this month and last year hundreds went through on the same system

Sorry Caleb, but many underrate the importance of port 443 / HTTPS needing to be open. Only WCG uses secure comms, so if you got something through of other projects, thinking you mean not WCG, it's because they use port 80/http. Most probably, again, either it's the on-machine security or this new variable, the school router. Your log makes no indication of a proxy, but it's there somewhere you have to look. Ask the network admin.
