Re: New projects to come?

At the time we were crunching AC@H1 workunits, it was said that Phase 2 was expected to be larger. Of course, I have no idea if that is still the case. That is just what was anticipated then.

No particular clue from the scientists side, but one thing is sure: it will hardly be smaller. smile

But this is an IADS thread here...

Re: New projects to come?

Not really, the thread was misplaced, but where to put this as it's not BOINC support either, the topic and discussion rather general... on new projects. Maybe Chat Room.

Re: New projects to come?

This is not Chat. It is a very important discussion for people that have only 19 hours on AC@H and want to get a bronze badge with the AC@Home 2 (which I hope will stay on the same badge path as AC@Home 1) smile
I guess no news on when that project will come huh? crying

Re: New projects to come?

The present Influenza Antiviral Drug Search (IADS) project is due to end sometime in Oct 09.€ Its now over 92 percent complete. Phase 2 of IADS will not start immediately afterwards and the present phase will move to an intermittent project.
A few Beta's or test runs might appear over the next months in preparation for Phase 2 IADS
Given that the IADS project will end soon, the Clean Energy Project (CEP) is almost finished, and the Discover Dengue Drugs Together (DDDT) project ended (moved to intermittent) a few weeks ago, I would expect at least one of the other phase 2 projects to launch shortly - perhaps around the end of Oct or early Nov; but of course this is just speculation!
The results of AC@H are Still being analysed, so phase 2 has not been ready since 2008, but I would guess that it might be comming soon, even if it is small. The other potential Phase 2 projects have just finished thier initial phases and the scientist will want to analyse the data, ready papers and do some testing before launching phase 2 projects.

Re: New projects to come?

I think Phase 2 of IADS will not start immediately afterwards because it tries to predict strains of the flu, which diverge from this year’s flu strains, which has not happened yet! Unless of course the scientists are being stupid and trying to work out next years strains based on last years strains - ignoring the fact that there is a full years of mutated strains in between.
Perhaps a few Beta's might appear over the next 6 months in preparation for Phase 2 IADS?

Predicting strains? I thought it was just CHARMM processing of phase 1 results, just like DDDT?

I don't get it. If AC@H phase 2 was ready (and small) since 2008 why WCG didn't activated the Project almost the hole year 2009 ???

Re: New projects to come?

Nope. AC@H phase 2 is complete vapourware. Promises, promises. Believe it when you see it.
