Facebook users often ask how they can feature World Community Grid on their Facebook profile, and benefit from its social networking features to promote World Community Grid. Now you can!
http://apps.facebook.com/world-community-grid/ Here is a little guided tour: Profile box Display your World Community Grid statistics in your profile sidebar. You can customise the box by choosing between global, team and personal statistics. You can show your badges, and there are lots of other options to fine-tune your very own profile box. Your profile box will update automatically every day. Profile tab You can add a whole new tab to your profile, showing all of your statistics, badges and certificates. This is a great way of showing off achievements that don't fit into your profile box. To add the tab, go to your profile and click on the new tab button: Info tab Facebook lets you list your interests on the Info tab of your profile. Now you can feature your favourite World Community Grid projects there as well. If you have too many favourite projects to show all the details, you can just list the names instead. Wall posts Wall posts about your new badges and certificates are the best way of introducing your friends to World Community Grid without nagging or annoying anyone. It's a great way to track your own progress, too! Certificates Certificates are awarded when your points total reaches a new milestone (badges are for computer time). This means your certificate represents your entire contribution to World Community Grid, and members with very fast computers can compete for high scores. Certificates are awarded at various milestones. The early milestones are closer together, and they get further apart until half a million points. After that, you get a new certificate every half million points. If you don't have a certificate yet, they look like this: If you earned certificates before you linked your account on Facebook, then those certificates will be undated. Currently there is only one certificate design. Expect to see more designs in the future. How to get started You need to link your World Community Grid account to Facebook. Just go here and follow the instructions: http://apps.facebook.com/world-community-grid/ |

World Community Grid has had a basic Facebook application available for members to use for the past 2 years. You can access it at: http://apps.facebook.com/worldcommunitygrid/
We have been in the process of redesigning and reworking our Facebook application for the past month to make it more dynamic, engaging and integrated into the World Community Grid website. We plan to release the updated application in early November. We will submit the World Community Grid Facebook application to Facebook's official application verification program. This process will provide our members with the certainty that they are dealing with an application that is the official World Community Grid application. In the meantime, World Community Grid has been made aware that a new Facebook application has been created that was designed to look and act like an official World Community Grid application. It is important that our members understand that this application was not developed by World Community Grid. Facebook provides applications access to much of the personal information that their users provided to Facebook. Since we do not control the application in question, we cannot verify or control what is done with that information and advise members to join at their own risk. We apologize to our members for any confusion on the official World Community Grid Facebook application. |
