Just for grins.. What is your normal power bill running all out? Not a question that I would answer, if you had asked me that question. It's competitive info so I'll avoid a precise answer, but a fair question. I'm not an electrical engineer or operations guru, but in my experience computers in this class use ~$0.85 per day on average regardless of the marketing. They do more with that power budget every generation, but the power is relatively constant between 1.5A and 2.0A at 208v. So without the power bills at hand, call it ~$20k / month. The power costs over say 4 years is nearly 20% of the cost of the machines at current rates (no pun intended). ![]() |

I don't want to know, much less have my wife realize it costs. So for me it cost NOTHING, dear its practically free. Hey you want to go shopping. In reality not that easy, my wife is smarter than me and hey she can spell. She just tolerates my quirks.

It's competitive info so I'll avoid a precise answer, but a fair question. Call it ~$20k / month. Sorry for asking (and to Astrolab). I didn't realize it was competitive info. I know my 6 systems pull 1kw..($2.6/dy or $79/mth). ![]() |

On the subject of energy cost, I like to encourage everyone to buy at least 80+ certified power supplies for their systems.
I think it is the simplest thing you can do to cut energy usage and cost. 80+ Bronze, Silver, and Gold are even better but the price starts to go up quick, each person has to make their own call as to whether its worth it. |

It seems to me that his contributions will be sporadic, due to use of his machines for his business. Any time he can fire those bad boys up and churn out some work for WCG is a good thing :)

That computation power is just amazing. Let's hope we see activity like that more often in the future

If MrKermit spends just one day on WCG in the next couple of years he'll still be doing a massive amount for WCG. Thanks for visiting MrK, feel free to drop in anytime, you'll always be welcome.:)

If MrKermit spends just one day on WCG in the next couple of years he'll still be doing a massive amount for WCG. Thanks for visiting MrK, feel free to drop in anytime, you'll always be welcome.:) We'll continue to jump in and out of the WCG pond. The real question is not, "What can 1 frog do?", it's what can we do to stomp that "Frog"?! The Havoc that one user can create for the WCG ecosystem is far greater than I had realized. For the most part a good kind of havoc, but still "making waves" and making it hard on some systems folks and other Donors. The "sustainable" donations are the most important, and hopefully we are all doing our part to do a little bragging at club meetings or even offering to do a presentation at the local Better Business Bureau on what WCG could do with their member's spare cycles. Special thanks to all the folks who make this system work day in and out, and my apologies for the retreads that are likely to circulate through the system over the next few days. I tried to pull in another day and got caught just as my nodes were loading up with an emergency. Hopefully I will be able to get familiar with how to manage the clients in a more efficient way (read, "not all or nothing"). If anyone has a good thread or whitepaper on managing multitudes of clients post a link. Cheers, MrKermit ![]() |
