In looking at the Slashdot numbers... and trying to find a metric for team TribalWar to try and attack once we pass the IBMs in front of us, i located a metric on which MOT is currently out pacing TW by quite a margin.
----------------------------------------Number of top 1000 Members in the team. Currently MOT is pulling down third, while there is threesome going on for 4th. 44 Slashdot 24 IBM Corp 17 MOT 10 Rochester, TribalWar and Canada So good job MOT. It shows you have a better depth in high end individual input... but, WE ARE COMING FOR YA! (again) (we should hit 11 and then 12 in the next 4-5 days) (if you are currently not in a Team... feel free to Join TW... although the other teams probably wouldn't turn you away either... although TW is where its at ;) ) [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at May 11, 2005 4:31:24 AM] |

Thanks for the stat. My goal was to break into the top 100 initially. Once we (our systems) did that, we found that there are very few people putting up more than 10,000 points per day and we kept climbing up over time, now into the teens.
I think if you looked at the number of members in the top 100, I am pretty sure MOT would be way ahead. One of the reason's I joined MOT is that there was no competion in the IBM teams, no communication, no team work, zipo. I came from IBM Americas. We still hold the lead on that team by 3x the points although we left there in mid March. The IBM Rochester team is really mostly one person that runs the IBM Competetive benchmark laboratory in Minn. We needed to run after a goal. someone we may never catch. Being in first place on a nowhere team is boring. I have noted that some indiviudals are teams, and some teams are really individuals. Individuals in the top 100 are ahead of the vast majority of most teams. Thanks again for the stat. Best of luck and Good will. |

ya plenty of the teams could do with a merge to try and got some better comp going.. teams of one or v.few active people are of little use or fun. Being in a cohesive, communicating group is far more fun while also inspiring people to chase more boxes/units. :)

My theory is that there are a bunch of people who threw the client on their boxen and went on with life, forgetting, for the most part, that WCG even exists. I doubt the majority even participate in these forums. And since there is no way to contact people off-site without some form of insider info or their active participation in a forum where contacts (PMs and the like) are possible, I doubt there is any way to reach them and recruit them into an uber-team that will blow us all out of the water. Bummer. THAT would have been an interesting contest... (Not that MOT v. TW isn't all that and a bag of chips... at least until the TW forums are back up, giving me something else to read!) -CD |

Sounds to me like it's time for MOT & TW to merge and give /. a run for their money. MOTW...it fits together so nicely.
