Thanks everyone.. :) What's everyone else up to? Cyber Monday? Dr. Mike.. I am just grumbling. I have been waiting to see if I could get a Dell 8000 cheap. I found one that is "20%" off. But configured the way I want it, it is just as expensive as it was a month ago. So... there they go...jacking up the price and then offering a discount. I am disapointed in that so I just went back to work on some stuff I have been putting off. By the way, have you ever used the line "Trust me... I am a Doctor"? ![]() With the Black Friday "sales" being the farce they are, I'm not at all surprised that "Cyber Monday" is the same. I was a bit late finishing my shopping this year - it ran over into November. I do most of it online and deal with "bricks and mortar" only if it doesn't involve a mall and there's a clear reason to. Even then, online is a great place to do your research. Plan things right and you can usually swing free shipping along with avoiding sales taxes. Just a matter of bringing it in off the porch. Now THAT'S shopping! As for Dell, I was rather disappointed in their website. When it comes to configuring a machine, it would let me pick things that didn't work or ended up with the configuration putting out errors after I thought I had it done. If you were able to start with the "special price" offer and the price changed only by the incremental amount that your changes involved, then I'd say Dell was being fair but if simply adding a few changes to that configuration (like extra memory for example) lost you the "special price", I'd fire off a nasty e-mail to Dell explaining how many you've bought in the past, what you tried to do, and why you no longer plan to buy Dells any more. If Dell is not the greedy money-grubbing misers so many large companies are these days, they may actually do something to treat you right. 9 out of 10 unhappy customers never tell the company that they are unhappy or why. You'd think businesses would be glad to hear from the 1 out of 10 and try to make it up to them! |

FYI, my six year old daughter is a "soldier" in the local dance school's Nutcracker the rest of this week. Going to be a rough week for her as she'll be missing out on 1.5-2 hours of what sleep she usually gets at night. I'll also be a bit later posting the stats too.
----------------------------------------We'll be celebrating it (and it being over) on the 13th when we'll be taking in the matinee show of the Nutcracker here in town by the professional company. I think she's going like the front row seats! ![]() |

While I'm remembering things
---------------------------------------- , we'll be traveling to see my wife's family this year. The plan is to leave very bright and early on the 26th and drive it in one day (about 12-13 hours with stops). We'll leave to come back on the 30th and, while I intend to do what I can to make sure we get back that day, it could be lunchtime on the 31st. Net is that I'll need someone(s) to volunteer to capture the raw data for the daily stats so I can post them for each day when I get back. I can contact/email you when I'm back so you know when to email the files to me (I'll have cleaned up my inbox first ). It's easy to do. Just bring up this URL in your browser:http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/team/viewTe...amp;numRecordsPerPage=400 Then you just copy the part on the page starting with marysduby down to MOTley_crew and paste that into Notepad. Use the date in the filename you save it with. Here's what the file would look like (this is today's raw data): marysduby 1/5/05 56:352:19:14:00 39,717,938 89,619 When we touch base on my return, you can just attach the files to an email and send them to me. Should be just a few minutes of your time each day and the files are real small (about 20K). |

Wow! I knew things had been wet lately but just read that we're 14 inches above average for rain this year. Quite the turnaround from the years of drought. Guess that's why there's always a flood watch every time they expect rain lately!
