I updated our team forum yesterday (link in my sig). I haven't been active over there lately due to the large number of spammers creating accounts. I finally upgraded the forum style to support the new antispam features available with the latest version of phpBB3. I cleared out about a hundred spammers that were able to create an account (but not post) and a few hundred others that were in the inactive list. You couldn't see any of their posts because one of the new features I implemented early in the year puts new users in a special account where their posts have to be approved.

Which leads me to my next topic. Markus K , our new team member who joined us in August, created a forum account and said hello in October. I didn't notice him until recently due to all the spammers. Anyway, I've upgraded him so he can see the entire forum and his post is in the Welcome section. Stop by and welcome him when you get a chance!

So far the antispam measures I implemented at ChristiansAgainstCancer.com are working. Not one spam bot has been able to attempt to create an account. Hopefully a real person won't have any trouble. I created a temporary account and didn't have a problem getting through the security measures. It's actually easier to read than the previous CAPTCHA feature.

I'm also on the lookout for a new skin/style to install. Let me know if you see anything appealing that is compatible with phpBB3.

I knew one forum administrator who got so exasperated, he created an area in which spammers could post.
