Re: Christians are giving......come give with us!

Thanks for the welcome. I have had loss of mouse and keyboard input issues (both wireless and USB wired) with my HP desktop, and I believe they were related to the Intel SSD. I've disconnected the SSD and imaged the backup to my secondary HD. Once I am convinced that the SSD is the problem, then I may have to send it back to HP for the third time. It just gets better and better. So far they have upgraded my power supply to 800 watts, replaced the Gigabyte mobo twice, and upgraded my processor to an FX-8350. I wonder if they will upgrade the SSD, too?

I hope to be around for a long time.

Interesting. I haven't heard of an SSD causing input issues. Have you tried other devices in the USB ports? Keep us updated!

Re: Christians are giving......come give with us!

I had two events with the keyboard/mouse not being able to input this afternoon. That eliminates the SSD as the cause, but does not explain why it won't boot and have keyboard/mouse functional with the SSD. Memory? I cleaned the contacts on the RAM sticks with a pencil eraser and reseated. I answered a questionnaire from HP and told them the computer is a lemon. They have replaced the Gigabyte mobo, power supply, and processor so far. I'm going to crunch with this thing until it melts down! For info, it is an HPE h9-1135 Phoenix. The CPU crunches at 53 C with liquid cooling. I reinstalled the AMD chipset drivers and all hardware is functioning normally according to device manager. I have set USB properties to prevent them from sleeping and not responding to inputs. I know the computer keeps computing because a virus scan was running once, and it will respond to a CD/DVD being loaded.

The Event Viewer does not show any unusual activity (except the hard boots). I wish it would give me an old fashioned BSOD so I'd have a clue what is happening.

Thanks for listening. I have often said that running a computer at 100% load does not cause computer problems, but it will REVEAL problems. smile

Re: Christians are giving......come give with us!

Could it be a driver issue?

Maybe a conflict between the USB and something else on the IRQ?
Lot's of possibilities to look into.

Re: Christians are giving......come give with us!

I am running Windows 7 Home Premium. Although I had set Power Options to High Performance, Never, Never; I found the Texas Instruments USB Root Hub Properties set to "Allow this computer to turn off this device to save power." I haven't had a problem in about 19 hours since changing that setting.

I only have a PCI video card (TV tuner removed), and the video card is an AMD HD 7790 running AMD 13.350.1005.0 driver. It tests well at PCPitstop.

The issue seems to be limited to USB inputs which acted as if they were sleeping and would not awaken. I'm hoping the change in setting for the USB hub has resolved my problem.

I hope that fixed it. I've never run into that before, although I did have a network card go to "sleep" on me and had to go into properties and tell it not to. That was several years ago.

Still running well. I have imaged it back to the SSD.

PecosRiverM, it ran several days without a problem and then had cursor freeze twice. Thinking about what you suggested and having no BSOD info, I disconnected the CD/DVD drive. No more problems.
