One of the 3 front page featured Facebook Power Thru Processor had the experience similar to a DOS yesterday as 4,000 new members tried to download the climate prediction software. WCG maybe had spillover and recorded 717 new members yesterday according BOINCstats with a validated result, WCG's own record showing 1187 new members with a returned result.

Actually, the big growth you have seen over the last couple of days was driven by some media that discussed World Community Grid in Japan.
----------------------------------------The major items are as follows: 1) Nikkei Computer, issued on Monday, Aug/03/2009, introduced the HFCC project. Nikkei Computer is a popular IT monthly magazine distributed in Japan. If you have a copy apparently the article is on page 63. 2) Mainichi Newspaper, issued on Monday, Aug/10/2009 had an article called "You can help Childhood Cancer Research with your PC" 3) Fuji Television Network, broadcasted on Wednesday, Aug/12/2009 The five minutes telephone interview of Dr. Nakagawara and the picture of Chiba Cancer Center Research Institute and the HFCC project was broadcasted over Japan during one of the popular morning program called "Mezamashi TV" These primary sources were then replicated across various sites and has resulted in a large number of registrations over the past two days. WCG needs to make a deal with PC Makers such as Dell, Hateway etc. to incorporate BOINC in the packaged software....
