Little Girl With A Big Spirit

Ten years ago Carolyn Clifford did a story called a Little Big Manâ. It was about a boy named John Tacket who became the face of a rare disease called progeria.

Now Carolyn introduces us to a â Little Big Girl who is fighting progeria and inspiring everyone she meets along the way.

When you first meet Lindsay Radcliff, her small stature may give you reason to pause.

But once you hear this 5-year old speak, you can´t help but fall in love with her spunk and joy for living

Lindsay suffers from progeria. The disease produces rapid aging in childhood. There is s a growth failure beginning in the first year of life. Children with progeria also lose the hair on their heads, as well as their eyebrows and eyelashes..But in Lindsay’s eyes, she’s no different than any other child. She plays baseball and has even won a few trophies. She’s a Pistons fan. She told us ‘Sheed was her favorite Piston. She even has his jersey. But, she explained, he has moved on to another team..... See video
.. rose God bless

Re: Very special good and positive news

Jean Pierre;
I've been at this forum since late August 2006.
In all that time I've seen some good people and a couple bad here.
I've seen ego's and then such wonderfull people as it's hard to describe them.
I'd just like to say that in you I see one of the good ones.
In your posts I see the heart inside the man.
Thanks for all you do here.

Founder of Bob's Red Mill Natural Foods transfers business to employees

Bob Moore overlooks his landmark Bob's Red Mill Natural Food store in Milwaukie. The 81-year-old just unveiled a program giving his 209 employees full ownership of the business. The company produces and markets a line of more than 400 whole-grain flours, cereals and bread mixes.

MILWAUKIE – Scores of employees gathered to help Bob Moore celebrate his 81st birthday this week at the company that bears his name, Bob's Red Mill Natural Foods.

Moore, whose mutual loves of healthy eating and old-world technologies spawned an internationally distributed line of products, responded with a gift of his own -- the whole company. The Employee Stock Ownership Plan Moore unveiled means that his 209 employees now own the place and its 400 offerings of stone-ground flours, cereals and bread mixes.

"This is Bob taking care of us," said Lori Sobelson, who helps run the business' retail operation. "He expects a lot out of us, but really gives us the world in return." Moore declined to say how much he thinks the company is worth. In 2004, however, one business publication estimated that year's revenues at more than $24 million. A company news release issued this week stated that Bob's Red Mill has chalked up an annual growth rate of between 20 percent to 30 percent every year since,,

Good man applause .

Re: Very special good and positive news

JP,

Sondra and I thank you for your kindness and for thinking about us even as we were thinking about you and praying that you were OK after the earthquake you experienced. You are definitely one of a kind and that during a most difficult time for you and your country you are still thinking about others and trying to help ease our pain of losing a son. It is through friends like you and others here at WCG that Sondra and I will move on.

Muchas gracias amigo mio.

Tu Amigo,
Chris Cobert, Sr.

Nepalese doc is God of Sight to poor

HETAUDA (Nepal) - RAJ KALIYA Dhanuk sits on a wooden bench, barefoot, with a tattered sari covering thin arms as rough as bark. Thick clear tears bleed from her eyes, milky saucers that stare at nothing.
For nearly a year, cataracts have clouded out all sight from the 70-year-old grandmother's world. With no money, she assumed she'd die alone in darkness. But now she waits quietly outside the operating room for her turn to meet Nepal's God of Sight.
'I am desperate. If only I could see my family again,' she whispers in her native tongue. 'I feel so bad when I hear the baby cry because I can't help him. I want to pick him up.'
Dhanuk and more than 500 others - most of whom have never seen a doctor before - have traveled for days by bicycle, motorbike, bus and even on their relatives' backs to reach Dr. Sanduk Ruit's mobile eye camp. Each hopes for the miracle promised in radio ads by the Nepalese master surgeon: He is able to poke, slice and pull the grape-like jelly masses out of an eye, then refill it with a tiny artificial lens, in about five minutes. Free of charge........

Zimbabwe - laughter course to cope with the economy

Two women are planning to set up laughter clubs in Zimbabwe, one of the world's most challenging economies.

Shilpa Shah and Celina Stockill believe they will help people cope with the strains of Zimbabwean life.

They recently held workshops at the Harare International Festival of the Arts, with a range of exercises to encourage good hearty laughter.

"If you laugh - you change; and when you change - the world changes," said laughter trainer Ms Shah.

At their workshops, Ms Shah and Ms Stockhill encourage people to hold hands, make funny faces at each other and lie on the floor and kick their legs in the air.

They also ask them to pull their empty pockets out to laugh at each other's lack of cash, and to point and laugh at themselves.

We need to laugh more, especially in our situation in Zimbabwe - being poor, you've got to learn to laugh," said one man at a recent workshop.

American boy, 13, breaks Everest record

A 13-year-old American became the youngest climber to ever summit Mount Everest on Saturday.
Jordan Romero's journey was tracked through GPS coordinates on his blog, logging his team's ascent up Everest, which is 29,028 feet (8,847 meters) above sea level.
"Their dreams have now come true," a statement on Jordan's blog said. "Everyone sounded unbelievably happy."
Before Saturday, the youngest climber to scale Everest was 16-year-old Temba Tsheri of Nepal.....

Just incredible , bravo !
