Re: FA@H Project Badge Recognition thread

I just hit 4 years CPU. I don't know if there is enough time to make it to 5 years. I have 6 cores crunching so that would take 2 months. Otherwise I'll just move over to OET.

Any ideas?

Cheers coffee

Re: FA@H Project Badge Recognition thread

Got a little help from my friends to get my 100yr badge. With the estimates as they are I would have got it on the 2nd anyway but didn't want to take the risk wink

Love watching these planned assaults..... like yours Eric_Kaiser

Grats to all of you getting your targets

Re: FA@H Project Badge Recognition thread

Thanks OldChap,
Congratulations to this awesome 100 year badge.
I'm heading to a photo finish. Hopefully I'll pass the finishing line first. ~540 days to crunch away the next 5-6 days.

Re: FA@H Project Badge Recognition thread

A word to the wise then just for the sake of not missing by a matter of days....

Rigs with less than 32 cores can be told to emulate up to 32 cores I think but certainly more than 8 for an 8 core for example....

<ncpus>16</ncpus> in cc.config will make rig emulate a 16 thread machine. It will try to run 16 threads at once but it will also download the work for 16 threads and in doing so it will overcome to some extent the 35 wu's per real thread limit. therefore you have bigger cache for when new work runs out.

An adjustment to boinc preference > work buffer may also be needed

running 16 wu's concurrently is possible but if you do not wish to do so then adding

<app>
<name>fahv</name>
<max_concurrent>8</max_concurrent>
</app>

to your app_config file will revert running to normal 8 cores

If attempting to protect yourself like this please do the math for the number of wu's the rig can complete inside the deadline

Have a nice day biggrin

Anne-Sophie, how short are you and how many cores do you have available?

I could give you a boost if it will help!

Let me know...

DO you want a hand with some extra cores Eric?

Re: FA@H Project Badge Recognition thread

I think Eric is on track and can protect himself using the info in the above post by me.....

Anne-Sophie on the other hand needs about a year Mamaj. That would be everything I have for 3 days or so..... I'm guessing a good deal quicker for you wink

Or we could team up? either way eminently doable

What say you AS?
