I will replace my AMD Athlon II 250 X2 processor with a new AMD Phenom II 1100 X 6 (Black) processor in September. That's my birthday present to me!  Or you might watch for the 8-core AMD Bulldozer chips, which are supposed to be out during the second half of this year. My birthday is in July, but I'm delaying my present to see what's out there by the end of the year.  |

I will keep an eye out for these 8 core beasts. The question will be whether my motherboard will take such a CPU - I know it will accommodate a 6 core CPU. If it will go, then I will have 12 cores (AMD Phenom II 955 X 4 (Black) as well as an 8 core machine working on humanitarian and other research projects.
