Hello!
it's the second time I realized that the NRW work units have problems with my OS/computer. First time I had boinc6.4.5 and saw the problem. I thought it was a problem of boinc and downgraded to 6.2 but now the same problem again. In the boincmgr I couldn't see any explanation, the task just did nothing. OS: Ubuntu/Linux 9.04 64 bit |

There's no rhyme or reason for this, cause unknown. The really stable client, 5.10.45, not sure if it exists for Linux, is the release that runs RICE for me successfully on one Windows XP box. With any 6.x, either it orphans quickly, not using CPU time or it self-destroys within the minute. Any other computer runs RICE well with any BOINC version.

OS: Ubuntu/Linux 9.04 64 bit I see that you aborted the two RICE work units you had. Can you please elaborate what you are seeing? Does boinc show the work units are running? If so, do you see them using up CPU usage when you type in 'top' in a terminal? -Uplinger |

If it is helpful i can try tommorrow to run a rice job again, can I increase the debug level? best regards! |

I was running BOINC and RICE on an ubuntu 9.04, so thats not the problem. Yeah you should make it more verbose, and paste the lines (paste them to >>> http://pastebin.com , then paste here the link). And please, say what CPU've you got.
Thanks. |

I started the client now in the foreground and got these two lines when the NRW job start: 09-Jul-2009 15:39:27 [World Community Grid] Starting task R00299_c5a184f3c11653d971a4a452029ca4df_01_008_12 using rice version 617 *** glibc detected *** corrupted double-linked list: 0x085a9d8c *** The cpu is: model name : Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E8400 @ 3.00GHz best regards! sven |

Think the gentlemen meant to add some extra log flags to the cc_config.xml, but let's first see what uplinger can do with this message.
----------------------------------------Smells like a reason why I'm still not sold on Ubuntu. Though I do have 9.04 myself in dual boot, can't get the wifi (N) to work opposed to hardy heron's, so it was parked again. No wires in our house.

We don't send out debug versions of the science applications. But, I have a few more things and questions. 1. Was this a clean install of Ubuntu 9.04? 2. Do you have ia32-libs installed? '$ sudo apt-get install ia32-libs' should tell you if they're installed or will install them if they are not. 3. Can you check the projects folder under www.worldcommunitygrid.org in your boinc directory. If you installed boinc-client via synaptec or apt-get it should be /var/lib/boinc-client/projects/www.worldcommunitygrid.org/. Then check the permissions on the RICE executable to make sure it is the same as the other wcgrid executables in that directory. -Uplinger |

All wcg_* belong to the same user and have the same umask Is this helpful? I found in a slots dir which seems to be the working dir for the jobs, here is the link to stderr file which i found there http://pastebin.com/m528c5950 best regards! sven |
