Hi:
A couple days ago, a message asks if I want to update my boinc version, I accepted but until now, it’s not possible to complete the installation of the new version. Appears a little window and says: The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that in unavailable. Then ask me to search the BOINC.msi, typed the correct directory but still unrecognized the file. Can anybody help me with this issue? Thanks! |

It's a frequently occurring problem when the current version's installation file was removed **, speak the BOINC.msi of the client that you were running. Go fetch the old version and reinstall that *. Then install your new version. BUT, if that message relates to version 6.6.36 or any 6.6, you don't need it if you do not do BOINC computing using the graphics card. WCG has no such projects. So if you have WCG package 6.2.28, my recommendation is to just keep that and wait until WCG, directly or through CA's, communicate there's now a new solid version.
----------------------------------------* Tell us your old version and we give you the link. See Help About box in BOINC. ** [removed by gremlin's or leprechauns]

I'm having the same issue, trying to update my BOINC Version 5.10.45 to the latest download version (boinc_6.6.36_windows_intelx86.exe). I also get an Error 1706 - no valid source could be found for product World Community Grid - BOINC Agent. The Windows Installer cannot continue.
I get the same error code even trying to uninstall the old version. There doesn't seem to be a way to tell what version of the BOINC.msi I have; if I need a correct version to fix this issue, what is the link? Thanks, Howard |

If you have the WCG version of BOINC, you will get a message when WCG is ready to upgrade. For windows theirs is 6.2.28, next one probably 6.10.xx seeing the 6.9 alpha development as underway.
