HI all!
I see that we get points based on our device details. Better cpu better scores. Well my device profile says that my hard drive is like a 2gb while it is actually 200. I've tried everywhere to change it but I can't. I would like tochange it as it would make a huge difference on my scores. Thanks, Jason |

I think it's the amount of space you are willing to let the software use, not a measure of the actual size of the hard drive.
In the WCG agent GUI, click on ""View your device list" and in the web page that loads click on the profile that you are using (mine says "default". At the top of the page, there is a drop down list that allows you to set the disk space. I changed mine to the max 10 GB, and saved, but in the agent GUI it still shows the previous value, so maybe it only updates the GUI when a new workunit is loaded? I don't know. |

Ok.. my default browser is set to FireFox... do I have to change it to Internet Explorer for this to work. None of those menu's work for me.. When I click on the View Device List or Modify Device Profile all I get is a spinning sand timer for a 10th of a second and then nothing happens at all.
This is a pretty big bug.. if I can't define the schedule for this device to work... I don't think I'll continue using it. Bursar |

Oh crap.. this is absolutely lame. No wonder there's no *nix version available. This thing is tied so tightly in with Internet Explorer that you cant change -any- option unless IE is set as your default browser.
For shame IBM.. There are plenty of other distributed computing options for me to endorse something as heinous as this. |

Ok.. so I got it to work with FF now.. yes I know you can just login here and change it manually but its BS.. and the software should send the config to the site IMHO... not the other way around... I had to set my default browser to IE and then try out the buttons.. then change it back to Firefox and now it seems to be opening in FireFox.. but I wouldnt be surprised if it wound up behaving the way as before after restarting the OS or the App. This is still really irresponsible programming and this issue needs to be
A) addressed and B) added to the known problems faq here. I'm obviously not the only one having problems with this issue. |

Just for reference, i use Mozilla 1.7.3 and the buttons on the site worked fine for me.
But I can understand at your annoyance the pressure to have to use IE. Regs, SlySy[UK] |

I'm obviously not the only one having problems with this issue. The entire site should work just fine with any of the major browsers: Mozilla, Firefox, IE, Opera, Konqueror and Safari. If you run into a browsing problem with a particular browser, please use the "Contact Us" link to report it. Regarding your profiles, it's a two step process. You need to create or modify a profile, then you need to assign it to one or more of your devices. It's done this way to allow you to manage your profiles easily. A lot of people have computers they don't always have immediate access to and this allows them to update them without physically being there (e.g. a server room). If you did it only from the client, you'd have to change each client manually. It's also beyond our control as that's the only way it can be done with the current UD client. Also note that your agent will not receive the new profile until it next contacts the server which will happen when it completes the current work unit. - Rick Alther World Community Grid Application Developer
