I recently read at the net that WCG are amongst the top five supercomputers. I would like to see a kind of ''bar tool'' with info on the top ten supercomputers and how much they are processing. Maybe that could increase WCG members.

Have a look at this thread... The 300 Teraflop Machine is here!

I hate to rain on your parade, but WCG wouldn't make Top 10: The TOP500 project ranks and details the 500 most powerful known computer systems in the world. ![]() |

It just squeezes in there. You need to look at Rmax, not the theoretical peak. This won't last long, though. By the time the next TOP500 list is published, all the top 10 will be over 400 and probably close to 500 Tflops. Can WCG grow that fast?
But as I have said many times before - it depends how you count. It is very difficult to calculate a meaningful comparison between completely different architectures. If we used effective computing power as our metric, we would have to factor in redundancy. It's a non-trivial topic. |

Cores, we need more cores! ![]() |

lol, just wait for octo-cores, then we will be scary powerful :O The 8 core i7 will be out Q1 2010, maybe even ready in time for Christmas this year. . . . . . HT'ed octocore i7, with 64-bit Windows 7 . . . [music] it's beginning to sound a lot like Christmas. . . .[/music] ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by Sid2 at Jun 29, 2009 7:22:50 PM] |
