Hello,
Running BOINC 6.6.3x - up to recently no problems (358 HFCC results returned, average CPU time 5 ~ 6 hours per WU). --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Processor: 2 GenuineIntel Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU 6400 @ 2.13GHz [x86 Family 6 Model 15 Stepping 6] Processor features: fpu tsc pae nx sse sse2 mmx OS: Microsoft Windows XP: Professional x86 Edition, Service Pack 3, (05.01.2600.00) Memory: 2.99 GB physical, 4.83 GB virtual Disk: 228.14 GB total, 156.26 GB free Benchmark results: Number of CPUs: 2 390 floating point MIPS (Whetstone) per CPU 2294 integer MIPS (Dhrystone) per CPU --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- On 06/23 and 06/24 I got the following WUs: HFCC_t1_01042012_TrkB_0001_0 - 36% after 41 hours. In the last 24 hours progress went up only by ~ 2% HFCC_t1_01060339_TrkB_0006_0 - 14% after 18 hours Looks a little bit odd. Other WCG projects on this machine run within average CPU time limits. |

boinc 6.6.3 isn't supported by wcg.
boinc 6.2.28 is. we don't support issues with any newer boinc versions but i'm sure someone more hopeful than me will come along to help you so just wait and watch.. |

Benchmark results: Number of CPUs: 2 390 floating point MIPS (Whetstone) per CPU 2294 integer MIPS (Dhrystone) per CPU Only 390 floating point MIPS on a C2D@2.13GHz? Are you sure you don't have something else running on background that's eating your CPU? Check with task manager, sort by %CPU descending. Integer benchmark seems OK though. |

When was the last time you rebooted your machine?
----------------------------------------(it may appear as though everything is running okay, although an occasional reboot does wonders - as it clears down registers and processors that may have, unknowingly to you, got reminants of other processes still clogging up the works). ![]() |

The total mislead of 6.6 (I've protested to no avail) is that you're looking at elapsed time, the time the science was allowed to run per Wall Clock. NOT the CPU time. Select that task and hit the properties button. FAQ: http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=26026
----------------------------------------You very likely as mentioned above have other processes running at a higher than idle priority (BOINC runs at lowest level). MIPS / INTEGER ratio is off. Normally it's a ratio 1:2 to 1:3. Something is/was running when benchmarking. Still seems low since my C2D T5600 1800 Centrino gives 1580 Whetstone and 3400 Dhrystone this moment.

Thank you All for your suggestions!
Rebooting my computer helped a lot - now my benchmarks are: --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 27-Jun-2009 14:25:49 [---] Benchmark results: 27-Jun-2009 14:25:49 [---] Number of CPUs: 2 27-Jun-2009 14:25:49 [---] 2083 floating point MIPS (Whetstone) per CPU 27-Jun-2009 14:25:49 [---] 4441 integer MIPS (Dhrystone) per CPU --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- and the "progress is progressing" at its normal rate. One more question regarding BOINC: Is there any comprehensive comparison (pros & cons, benchmarks) between BOINC 6.6.x (from BOINC) and BOINC 6.2.x (from WCG-IBM)? I am looking for comparison related to the ability of the above to perform sequential processing only (speed, efficiency, security etc..). |

You can use the one you prefer. I use the latest BOINC always, no problems so far. I compile it for myself. The projects are running as standalone applications, BOINC-client wont afftect your completion time.
