Re: Discovering Dengue Drugs – Together Update

It was a disaster from the BADGE point of view. The only point that really matters.

Re: Discovering Dengue Drugs – Together Update

Personally, I'd like to think that it was an outstanding success - as it apparently highlighted several areas of concern, that, if they'd have slipped through the net and gone into production, would have caused a heck of a lot more problems and discontent

An unsuccessful Beta test, is where no issues are found - that is, until they go into production and, due to the volume of WU's being sent out, issues a-plenty are discovered...

Beta testing is not the first set of tests. There is testing that takes place before Betas that attempts to determine if the application will run. Beta testing should be designed to take a running application and find MINOR flaws that need to be corrected.

Previous Betas have allowed the application to go live within a couple of days of finalizing the Beta. We are now are over 2 weeks and no sign of a new Beta.

A successful Beta is one where a tested application is Beta tested and no flaws are found, proving that the designers did their jobs in developing the application. Beta testing should not be used to find major flaws in logic or design, which as we saw is a major waste of resources.

Sucessfull beta (no major errors found) project launced soon with no major errors

Usefull beta (found lots of errors) project delayed may be more beta's

Beta Fail (no errors found) project launched ends with lots of errors

Badge count beta ( a suscessfull beta with long enough run times that people get badges) project launced soon with no major issues

The only point that matters? Beta is on a separate opt-in page for a reason: problems are to be expected. That's why it is a beta! Hopefully the next one will run better, but if you opt in for beta testing you can't expect everything (e.g. credits) to run perfectly.

Re: Discovering Dengue Drugs – Together Update

Indeed what a thing to say

From this thread

Posted by watowich Influenza Antiviral Drug Search and Discovering Dengue Drugs - Together Scientist

Beta testing is underway for “Discovering Dengue Drugs – Phase 2”. The programs and workflow required for ”Influenza Antiviral Drug Search - Phase 2” are similar to the dengue project. Thus, “Influenza Drug Search - Phase 2” should launch soon after “Discovering Dengue Drugs - Phase 2” starts.

We look forward to your continued help and generosity as we work together to find new cures for influenza infections.

All my best, and many thanks!

Stan
