FLU single core

I am having a problem which causes my single core (OLD) Laptop to lag for about 10 seconds. This only occurs with the influenza workunits. Any pointers or ideas? its very puzzling. Specs: 1.6GHz 1.5GB ram 1TB hard drive

Re: FLU single core

Please post:

  • Start up log of BOINC, around 30 lines (tells us about OS, BOINC version, and base settings)

  • The BOINC message log right from a minute before the prior result finishes and uploads to a minute or so after the new task has run.

Mitigating always could be to do a full disk defrag, to include PageDefrag (swapfile), so all writes/reads are coming / going to contiguous space. It's a suggestion which may or may not help reduce the event.
