We have started a new test for HCMD2. The application version is 6.14.
----------------------------------------This test is looking at two things: 1) Some result files were being truncated. We have changed the way we are outputting the data to hopefully eliminate this issue. 2) We have changed the way we compile on Linux. We hope that this will resolve the issues regarding monster workunits on Linux. Along with this we are testing an enhanced validator to accommodate larger variances in the results returned. Both of these are infrequent issues so we will be running a larger than normal beta test. It will consist of a full batch of HCMD2 work (5000 'parent' workunits which will probably yield an additional 15000+ descendants). [Edit 1 times, last edit by knreed at Aug 7, 2009 7:05:42 PM] |

We have determined that 6.14 is working better than 6.13. As a result we have gone ahead and released 6.14 into production (along with a revised validator). The beta test determined that the new version will require processors without SSE2 instructions to be in a different homogeneous class then processors with SSE2 instructions so we have modified HCMD2 to do that. There may be some AMD processors that we aren't breaking out correctly (there are fewer so it is a little harder to identify the trend) so we will be on the look out for those.
This should address the monster workunit issue (if you are running 6.14). We have not seen a re-occurrence of the truncated file issue. However, that is an infrequent problem so we are going to continue to run the beta to see if it occurs. |
