Profiles

The profile selection is falling behind. If I had nine machines and wanted to dedicate one to each project, it is impossible. There should be the same number of profiles as active projects.

Better yet,do away with profiles and let every machine have it's pick.
Edited for additional thought.

Re: Profiles

According history, the Device Profiles have nothing at all to do with Project Profiles. That was a bolt on. Originally Profiles was called Venues, which is why they are called Home, School, Work and a Default to start with. They were to allow different hardware configurations, so if a device / many devices was/were attached/associated with one of the 4, a single change to the venue would change all devices (aka hosts).

Sort of, but choosing different sub-projects came later. Anyway, more profiles is wish listed. When it comes is when we see it.

Re: Profiles

Can't all profiles be abolished and let each device run whatever projects.

Re: Profiles

No, because WCG is bound to the BOINC framework which only knows 4 venues.

Re: Profiles

Not sure anything is really coming out of it but, if you have not been watching all threads, there is another thread that purports to be able to create as many *profiles* as you want to and have them be effective.

Re: Profiles

Question is, will it be allowed to last, consequences unknown of this undocumented feature :?
