On a technical note, the result log looks healthily short and common
----------------------------------------Result Log And of course the familiar 24/7 race to allow the job to finish before the cancelled by server instruction has a chance to save redundant copies from being computed. Too Late with so few to go around, this round. Totally missed this one. I wasn't up (7am on a weekend! -- At least I'm sometimes still up for the 4am ones) to see the announcement and my machines were too bogged down in HCMD2 to be asking for anything.

This C Beta-tasks are running fine. In the past I had a lot of errors on my Vista64 Quad with the CEP A-tasks.
----------------------------------------Memory usage could still be optimized. With 2.5GB memory free I noticed a lot of pagefaults, but not as much as with the A-tasks. The C_0065* tasks used 1616PF/sec with a max working set of 35MB. The C_006u* tasks used 750PF/sec with a max working set of 28MB and they had only a little pagefault rate when it's over the half of the job. I also noticed regarly checkpoints every 6 minutes on my machine. Uploading 5 files/task ~5MB together. [Edit 2 times, last edit by Crystal Pellet at May 30, 2009 11:58:31 AM] |

The (hopefully) only one with an error?
<core_client_version>6.6.31</core_client_version> <![CDATA[ <message> The system cannot write to the specified device. (0x1d) - exit code 29 (0x1d) </message> <stderr_txt> Calling initGraphics() INFO: No state to restore. Start from the beginning. Calling initGraphics() Encountered error. Exiting. </stderr_txt> ]]> Running win7, the error happened 9 seconds after task-resume, after upgrading to v6.6.31, using delayed 1-minute start, so benchmark was finished. The 3 other beta-tasks resuming simultaneously didn't have any problems, and has finished to 2 "valid" and 1 "pending". Now, I'm not too sure if the virus-scanner could have interfered... Running Norton, with BOINC data-directory disabled from "Auto protection", but should it maybe also be excluded from the other called... hmm, translated to "search-exception" or something? |

My 2 Beta's finished and validated OK. They were estimated at 15h but only took 6.34 and 6.22 hours.

(...) I also noticed regarly checkpoints every 6 minutes on my machine. Uploading 5 files/task ~5MB together. If I hadn't looked in Results Status, I probably wouldn't have known that one core running at 2.2GHz under Win7 RC got a single WU here, as the 7.23 hours CPU time didn't increment my day count towards a bronze. :-| Messages says BETA_E000664_099C was checkpointing right around 6.5 minutes. Maybe a faster CPU checkpoints a little faster. (?) Is that a normal checkpoint interval, or do they try to make the nibbles smaller than that, or is it impossible to control how often they checkpoint and it's just the 'luck' of the data that are being crunched? |

I must have been looking at my tasks at the perfect time. I saw a beta come in and increased my buffer from 1 -> 2 days and snagged 5 of these. I did the same. I shortnend my buffers during the HCMD2 dry spell. I noticed that one of my devices had bagged one, expended my buffers back to 2 days and bagged 6 CEP beta WUs in one go! Times for the first 5 are between 5.35 and 12.88 hours. Last one is on 92% at just over 5 hours (for some reason, the last one didn't run as high priority... perhaps because it's well within the deadline?) It's been a big help to my beta stats, especially as the 50 or so HCMD ones I got totalled less than a day. I'm still 9 CPU days away from my bronze though, but I've only been doing it for about 6 months so far. Glad to be able to contribute! |

It's I think a day off in the USA, but a new set was put in the feeders, version 6.32 still and C type, 2 day deadline.

It should be a day off here too, but still got 4 v6.32 Beta's of the CEP B-type, I assume.
